I actually stumbled upon this while searching for some information on the Video Brain computer system. I have one of these under the staircase in my Room of Doom and the picture is captioned as such - and there was this page, updated just a few days ago, commenting on that very photo.

Pretty funny to read what the "real world" thinks about our little obsessions.

Unlike some of his other rants, though, he seems to be giving some ground in saying that he, too, might take two weeks to find the door. Either that's with the rather unclear intent of saying that he'd not be able to find his way out through this gigantic, and so poorly organized (obviously, since everything's so neatly stored on shelves) collection of games, OR he's saying that he himself would spend time looking at it all. Though, with the 9 year old comment, he might be trying to say the former, not the latter...

DGP, you're the topic of jokes and sarcasm, in other words: YOU MADE IT!! The next step would be a remark by David Letterman, then you're truly unbeatable. :)

With the Jolt cola and couple of roast chickens comment, though, I'm leaning toward the latter.

Ah yes, that's perfectly so. SO, let's put it this way:

On a page that's supposed to poke fun at various aspects of culture, the author realized he couldn't beat us...so he joins us! :P

heh reminds me of a recent visitor to my own "room of doom" one of our neighbors brought her 11 year old to my sons birthday party. i get a sort of "peak at the freak" vibe whenever non-gamers bring people down the hall to see my stuff, but hey a kid that age, i figured ok.

he looked around, 1000s of games, score of consoles, handhelds, some arcade machines..."you dont have an xbox, i have an xbox" well true that.

i figured i'd show him some old school cool with the vectrex, "eh" he said rockeroids was boring and scramble was just a defender rip off. he liked the nomad a lot and then finally i had to leave him to rejoin the party. he requested that i fire up my N64 so he could ride out the baby party. when i came back hours later he was racking up some sick scores on mariokart and my entire N64 collection was on the floor.

"why do you have two copies of banjo kazooie?"

kids
