In pursuit of a nice copy of Astro Warrior/Pit Pot, I just recieved the THIRD copy I've had to buy. The first one I got cheap, cart only, bad label, just to play the game.
The second one I bought so I'd have a nice complete copy for my collection.
The third copy I bought because the box and manual on the second copy were much crappier than stated in the auction.
This third copy's better than the second copy, but I'd still prefer to have a nicer manual (this new one's all dog-eared.)
Fourth copy someday???

How many copies of a game have you had to buy so you'd have a nice one?

I've gone through five copies of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

First one bought used, great shape, no manual, didn't save. This was way back before the bits to open carts were widely available and I couldn't have done much anyway since it uses a flash chip instead of a battery.

Second was exchange at same used game store for a copy that saved, came with manual. Label was dirty and had crude pencil all over it. (some kid felt compelled to write 'super sonic' on there. Little shit!)

Third: Shitty Majesco copy with peeling label, seller didn't inform me of this.

Fourth: Majesco copy picked up for a buck for some kids of a family friend.

Fifth: GOOD LABEL Sonic 3 cart loose finally acquired from an online trade.

I had to buy Bonk 3 twice!

The first time, it was just the hu-card.

The second time, I had to get it again for the box, tray, manual, and hu-card sleeve.

I sold the loose hu-card for $100.00 but still took a loss from buying the complete set. x_x

I've bought Apollo's Space Chase for the Atari 2600 at LEAST fifty times.

I'll leave it to you to guess why that is. :P

I've bought a Dreamcast 3 times, and when the last one broke I decided to say screw Dreamcast, and I will never own one again.

The VMU screws rust, the ports blow out and the drives stop working after a while from the ones i've had. I no longer support the Dreamcast it was made to be bio-degradable imo, Dreamcast is the worst console i've ever owned it doesn't last worth squat, well the first playstation models were bad too, but I only went through 2 of those.

I'm definately missing something.. Should I be checking space chases?

Kind of like checking Atlantis for a copy of Atlantis II? :hmm:

I've bought 3 Xboxes. The first one was because it was new. Got bored with it, so sold it and all the games on eBay to buy something else. Then a few months later, I missed having one, so I got another one. A month later, my wife decided I was monopolizing it, so we got her one too.

I've now learned my lesson...NEVER get rid of a game console! :)

Have you ever found the space chase you're looking for? I considered playing every game of space chase that comes my way, but haven't gotten around to it, I suppose I SHOULD, lol.

I'm on my third TG-16 now, because I keep selling it, I just got my second Saturn, and I believe my 4th Atari 2600. I currently have 7 or so NES consoles floating about, 2 SNES, 4 Genesis 1 models, a psOne and my second INTV, which I'm currently selling.

yeah, I go through a lot of systems.

I've had to buy a second copy of these games. Some died, a few vanished a couple years back, some of them I regrettably sold when I was younger. If I only knew I'd want to play them again someday...

SNES:

-Actraiser
Sold my original copy. I don't remember how much I got for it.

-Demon's Crest
Sold my original copy in high school. Don't remember the details.

-Donkey Kong Country
I had a close call with this one. First, I let some kid I hardly knew borrow it, and he moved away. Three months later, he shows up at my house and returns it. But at least if I had never got it back, I borrowed Spanky's Quest from him (a good game that's an R6, I wish I could find one now). You'd think I would have learned my lesson after that, but a few months later, I sold this for $20 and a bunch of basketball cards from some kid who lived down the street. This was back when I was 15 and really into basketball card collecting. Even worse, the kid only paid me $10 of the money. But he later made up for it by giving me his copy of Super Mario RPG. Also, I later found out that one of the cards included, a Michael Jordan insert, is pretty valuable... gotta find out how much it's worth now.

-Donkey Kong Country 3
Original copy vanished a few years back.

-Killer Instinct
I think I sold this one too, or maybe it just vanished. Fuck, I don't remember. LOL

-Street Fighter II
Another game that vanished.

-Super Mario RPG
As I mentioned, I got this from the kid I sold my DKC to. A year or so later I sold this to some guy at my high school for $20. At least I made some money off of it, so I don't regret it as much as the others. But I really missed playing it. Didn't actually buy it again though, a friend of mine gave me one for free. :)

-Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Another game that vanished. How the hell did I lose these things?

Playstation:

-Gran Turismo 2
My brother borrowed it and lost it. But since it was a buggy non-GH copy that liked to freeze up and corrupt saved files randomly instead of loading them (the non-GH copies of GT2 are well known for bugs), so he was probably doing me a favor. LOL I replaced it with a GH copy so I'd never have that problem again (and I haven't since), but the two game manuals were missing. I wish I could at least find the box from my original copy and get the manuals from it.

I hope I never have to buy any of these games a third time.

Ah.... games that ive bought mutiple times.

With my Working Designs variants, it appears that I keep buying more and more of the same damn thing. I wonder why?? "Working Desings, Our games go to 11"

Im now working on variant copy 5 of Alundra and at almost 20 a copy, this is really starting to piss me off. Ive got 2 copies of Arc The Lad 2 of Elemental GB, 2 of Lunar 2, 2 of RayCrisis, 2 of Slihouette Mirage, and working on a second Vanguard Bandits.

Ive got a few others, but not many. Nothing like that damn ALundra copies.

The record for me is The Legend of Zelda in its golden cart glory. First copy I got looked a bit shitty (and it was loose), and it turns out to be unstable too (maybe the battery is almost finished, or the rom board is damaged?). Second copy I got didn't look that great either. However, it plays perfectly, which matters to me.

Finally, last year, I bought something on ebay (I can't remember what it was, unfortunately). Anyway, the guy threw in a free copy of Zelda (again!), but this time in a complete, near-minty state.

Then, after that came out the GameCube Zelda disc (which I got solely for Majora's Mask, since I don't have a N64).

I'd be tempted to go for the GBA Zelda cart (if I can get it at a good price at work), but on the other hand, it'd be ridiculous to have 5 exact copies of the same game for 3 different platforms!!!

Say what you will, but I've got two Dreamcasts and both of them still work perfectly. And I don't understand that rusting problem. They must just be kept in very moist areas. :o

Anyway, on topic.

I've bought Sega Rally 2 (DC) twice. The first copy had a broken case and wasn't working properly anymore (too many scratches). I got rid of it in favour of a perfect condition copy. ;)

My original 5 SNES games I've bought again, thanks to my stupid idea of selling them back in 1997. They are: Super Mario All-Stars, Stunt Race FX, Pilotwings, Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing and Super Mario Kart. Unfortunately, my originals were all in mint condition, and my current copies are just loose carts. :(

I've currently got three Sega Mega Drive II's. The first one I bought, simply because I didn't have a Mega Drive at all. The second I got was part of a Sega Mega CD II combo which the seller wouldn't separate. The third was attached to a 32X, which again, the seller wouldn't separate.

I've never had to buy a game more than twice.

Revenge of Shinobi - owned it once cart only then later got a complete copy off Ebay

Super Mario 1,2, 3, Dr. Mario, Lifeforce - owned these all when i had my orginal NES and sold them off. Later i had to repurchase them when i got another NES.

I dont really count this but, i have owned "TMNT 2: The arcade game" three times. Orginally bought it for the NES, a copy came with the 2nd NES i bought, & 3rd i got free because the case was busted and we couldnt sell it at the store i was at.

The SNES Super Scope 6....bought it 3 times.

1st. Loose with all pieces

2nd. Boxed, with everything except the reciever and the styrofoam insert.

3rd. Boxed, complete with styrofoam insert. No instruction manual.

I eventually got the manual from a friend, and used the 1st loose one in the 2nd box with the 3rd styro insert to make sure it was the best looking one out of them all.

I have had to do this with alot of my video game stuff. That's way I normally only buy NEW, except for my NES games. That way I know I am the first one playing and I will of course take awesome care of it! Umlike some kid that might have had it before me and just tore the hell out of the game.

The downside in this is that is expensive doing it this way. (Buying pretty much everything new) I mean if I wasn't so picky I would have at least twice the number of items than I do now. But at least everything works perfect.

On purpose? Or because of accident?

All mine are on purpose.

I had the original SMB. Then I got the DX GBC version. Now I have a boxed NES version as well and then lastly the Famicom Mini GBA version. PLUS, I will be getting the US release. Goes the same for SMB2 and 3 as well as World for GBA and YI for GBA.

That's my most obvious one... ones.

I also just bought back Pikmin.

Theres only one game that I bought incomplete and then loved it so much I had to complete. Grandia 2 I bought it 2 years ago with a dreamcast when the dramcast was cheep as hell. The problem is that it was the game cd only. So later on I wanted to find it complete so I did a little calling and found another with the case and manual. Of course I bought that one as well. Then I read the case and see *GASP*! It comes with a music cd as well! Long story shorter had to buy Grandia 2 three times

I make a point of buying every cheap complete copy of Sonic 2 that I come across - most copies I see in the wild are between 25p and £1.50, but it will still sell everytime on eBay with a £5 BIN. :D

Well I was one of those people who sold there games from one console to the next, so i'm working on tracking down all the games I used to own, no matter how shitty.

I'd say i've bought over 50 games i've used to own :o
