Gaming rage; it happens. Hit the Ice for SNES pissed me off to the point where I yanked it from the console (without using the eject button) and threw it at the damned machine. The game spilt into halves and the SNES's casing was cracked with a small piece shipping off the corner.

I had to buy a new SNES but I'll never buy another copy of Hit the Ice for fear that I may need to buy another SNES.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I just know I'm going to cringe a lot reading this thread. I"ve never destroyed a console in anger - that would ROYALLY SUCK. I mean, how long are you mad? What happens 2 minutes after you get over it and you have a broken game system?! YIKES! I would think that would make you even madder!

Nah, I never break things when I get pissed off. Then again, it really takes a lot to get me mad. I can't even remember the last time I got "angry" playing a game.

I may not ever be able to visit this thread again, I fear the things I might see here.

I've destroyed a N64 and a PC Joystick controller, but never a system. :bad-words:

I've never broken any hardware, but I broke my friend's finger once in a tussle over Baseball Stars. Every time I'd win he would do something to make his twitchy NES reset and my money would be lost... so we ended up on the floor in a heap until he started yelling OW OW OW YOU BROKE MY FINGER DICKHEAD. It was pretty funny. His finger was totall bent sideways.

Oh man, I've destroyed SO MANY controllers and pieces of furniture due to "video game rage". Just off the top of my head, I can come up with the following....

-busted at least 15 NES controllers since the early 90's
-about a half dozen 2600 joysticks
-1 NES deck
-7 or 8 SNES controllers
-5 Dreamcast controllers
-5 or 6 genesis controllers
-4 psx digital controllers
-3 psx dual shocks (the most recent being 3 weeks ago while playing Rocky)
-2 coffee tables
-1 bedroom door
-a fractured wrist

I obviously have anger management issues, but I'm working on it. I still have yet to destroy an Xbox controller, so I've got that going for me!

I took a baseball bat to my Mr. Boston cart for Vectrex. Damn that game pissed my off. I kept getting killed in SD Gundam on my VB so I threw in in the street and ran over it with my car. I made it to the 51st level on our I Robot machine and then died. We were so mad we pushed it into the pool. Aaaargh!

Really! LOL

but then again I might be on that list. I only broke one system and that was my Atari ST. I was playing Empire on it and lost a key battle. Normally when I got frustrated with Empire I would hit the desk but this time I pounded my fist on the left side of the computer and shorted out the power supply. Cost me $80 (1987 dollars) to replace the Power supply.

After that I learned to only hit the desk (a couple of times I would bruise the bones of my wrist from the pounding).

Let's change it to people you shouldn't even meet in the first place! My face is not an angry Vectrex!!!!

Never destroyed any of my own stuff. Relatives would slam my NES pads down if they ever died though. Come on people, it's just Megaman falling down a pit.

I've busted a couple of ps2 controllers because of Timesplitters, Tony Hawk, and a few others.

I've never destroyed anything. Not even those CD-i titles upstairs in my room, adding bad karma to the ambience up there. I've bounced my N64 and, more recently, my GameCube, off a concrete floor (luckily the N64 is indestructible, and the GameCube has a GameBoy Player on the bottom so only one corner of that GBP was dinged up) because I accidentally yanked the system from its perch by putting my darn foot down on the controller cord.

I once shattered a bad CDR between my fingers, it was cool with the shards of disk coating spiralling slowly through the air and the fragments of disk landing everywhere. That's about as bad as I get.

Oh, and sometimes I just delete demo ROMs or emulators that are no good. AARGH, Shift + Delete DESTROY!

No physical game-related destruction in my history. But once, when I was 13, I knew a guy with one of those old Panasonic 8-Track players made to look like those things used to blow up TNT (red square-ish box with a T-shaped plunger handle at top). Well, I found my parent's old Don McLean American Pie 8-Track, and remembered that I used to love that album! So I played the tape.

BUT, the tape didn't play. It was dead, dead, dead. Pissed off that the tape had died, I chucked it across the room and watched the shattered shards explode all over the bedroom.

Turns out, the player was broken, and that particular album was out of print at the time. I felt pretty stupid after that.

Of course, when the album was re-released on CD sometime around 1987 or 1988 (I think), I bought a copy, only to find that the album was a bit more dull than I remembered.

Oh well.

The only things I've ever broken were two SNES controllers. I'm not sure which game or games made me do it, but those two didn't last long after crashing into the wall. But all of thats in the past, since then I haven't thrown or broken any of my game things.

I ripped Fire Pro Wrestling 2 from my GBA SP and threw it against the wall because that game is a stupid piece of shit straight from a dog's ass. I traded it in to Gamestop the next day. Next up is a PS1 controller that WOULD NOT let me do "soul steal" in CSOTN. I held it with one hand, punched it with the other and threw it in a drawer, where it's probably going to stay.

I hate to top all of you, but do I have a story to tell.

One time a few years back I happend to call Nintendo about a problem a friend had with a GB. The guy at the other end of the line and I began to talk and what I heared fits perfectly right here. It seems the number 1 cause of all repairs to the NES at least Nintendo was fielding back then, that people were shooting there NES with bullets. That guy told me that the company even had one on display for the employees. One that was even set on fire, he sent me the photo of that one.

Never. Ever.

That's how many times I've destroyed hardware or software for a game system or computer. It's just not worth that kind of mad, and I usually paid too much for the games in the first place, or was aware that my parents did, to do something like that.

I like my stuff. Not gonna go trash it, now, am I?

I suppose the only thing i destroyed was a NES. I through it up in the air and shot it with my 12 gauge. It was broke anywho. But I remember we had gotten are NES, had it about a year. My cousins were over and we were all playing super mario brothers or something. Well, my one cousin is a body mover when she plays games. If she wants to jump, her hands move up, you know the story. Anyways, she was making a big jump and her hands went to so fast and so high she ripped the NES deck right off the tv stand and onto the cement floor, causing the case to shatter. We were so friggin mad at her, I think i even called her F***in bitch or something, I was only 7 :D .

Heh. Ahem. Coincidentally, I just massacred a Genesis controller. Here's the story. Had a bare Genesis console (recieved as part of a long-ago trade), with no RF switch, power supply, controller, or games. Sat on it forever, trying to figure out what to do with it. Nearby Gamestop was blowing out all used Genesis stuff, so bought a power supply, RF, controller, and several boxed, complete games. Everything worked - except the controller. No biggie. Returned it today for another one. Came home, plugged it in, and it had a bad start button. Dammit. OK, take THAT one back, get another used one, bring it home, plug it in, and the "A" button is broken!

In a fit of rage over this, i took it outdoors, held it by the cord, and power slammed it into the driveway where it shattered into a bazillion plastic shards. Stupid and petty, yes, but cathartic as hell.

Tomorrow, I'll return to Gamestop and buy another. And I'll have it tested there at the store before I leave. Urgh.

Extremely upset one time because I could not get either of my new-to-me Atari 5200 systems to work (1 2-port, 1 4-port)...I threw them both to the floorl, and then I threw that devilish non-working switchbox at a heavy plastic trash can.

End result:

1 working 5200 system, 1 5200 system I still can't test because of the...1 still broken switchbox, and 1 broken trash can.

And I felt a lot better :)

Sad as it is to say, I destroyed a Ghouls & Ghosts for the Genesis years ago. Got so pissed off at not being able to get past one of the bosses that I yanked the cart from the console and threw it against the nearest wall. Cart seems ok after, but the game wouldn't play anymore?! Had to buy the game again! :frustrated: First and last time I'll ever do that.

Now don't get me on the subject of computers.... the stories I'd have about destroying some of those.... :D

Most recently I broke a PS2 DualShock on Silent Hill 3 after repeatedly getting hit by a train...I fixed it w/ no major damage, even after chucking it DIRECTLY at the PS2...they're rather resilient IMO, but I like others here, really shouldn't be doing it.

Oh, & I even fixed Fatal Frame! (see link)

The last time my father ever played our Atari 2600 was the night he broke a joystick handle off while playing Video Pinball. It's been probably 20 years and we still don't mention it. My sister and I learned a lot of four letter words when he played that game ... :)

Personally, I fall under the category of "can't imagine doing that to something I paid money for."

I never did any of that. I value my games too much :)
But my little brother once, being new to the ps2 (it had just come out) got himself a copy of Madden 2001 for Christmas. He tried to get the disc out but could not. Without asking for help, he just grabbed an edge and pulled hard, and the disc snapped right in half. :embarrassed: I felt bad for him and for that poor disc.

Does anger that results in personal injury count?

If so hear's my story:

Now I have a 2 year old and she was always tripping on the controller cord so I kept it suspened so she wouldn't fall. Around 9pm on a weeknight (don't remember for sure the day this happend last year) I was playing a heated game of football and lost the NCAA championship on a last second mircale catch and run by the computer. In my anger I went to slam my right fist down on the arm of my chair. During this motion my hand came down on the controller cord and yanked the controller from my left hand. This all works like a rope and pulley with my arm as the pulley and the cord as the rope. One of the controller handles hits my right arm with such force I'm literally stunned by it. Almost instantly I have a knot two inches long, 1 inch wide and about 1/4 inch tall. It's purple and bleeding ever so lightly from the center.

I call my in-laws and they come get the kid. I call my wife (who's at work) and tell her to meet me at the hospitol. Then I call my mom to drive me there because my vehicle is a stick and at this point I can't even turn my hand palm up because of the pain. Get to the hospitol and wait an hour in the waiting room before they take me back and do 5 x-rays.

Doctor's Finding: A deep bone contusion.
The cost: $200.00 for the visit plus another $20.00 for the painkiller medicine. I had to wear a bandage wrap around my arm for a few days to help control the swelling.

So there went my money for an X-box along with my NCAA game which was traded in the next day :(
I also BROKE the rumble feature in the handle that hit my arm. So now only the left side shakes.

I felt like snapping my NES controller in half when playing Battletoads back in the day. Didn't happen, but it still wound up destroyed when I chucked it at a wall in frustration.

I once threw a beer at the wall while playing a game on N64. The beer can hit the wall and fell on top of the N64 and half a can of beer poured right in. I flipped it over and drained it and let it dry for a couple of days and it still worked. But everytime I turned it on and it heated up it started to smell like beer in my room. :-P This happened years ago and to this day my N64 still works. I guess it just wanted a drink LOL

I've never really understood this phenomenon. I don't think I've ever become angry enough to destroy any of my things, much less game stuff. When a game is tough or is cheap, then I enjoy overcoming ridiculous difficulty or cheapass things (ie; Ninja Gaiden bats). The physical cartridge, system, or controller could not care less what is done to it. It doesn't have a mind, emotions, or pride.

That said, I've already admitted to (lightly) trashing some arcade games in the past (which came back to haunt me later in life), but they weren't mine. They belonged to someone else, and that makes it okay.

I once destroyed the case of an atari 2600 jr with a punch after playing (and losing, losing and losing) Othello when I was a kid. But it was still working after the punch tough, and, boy, my hand was HURTING after that @_@.

But a SNES Super Metroid and a NES Tiles of Fate cartridges never worked again due to my blind fury.

This thread is pitiful

Well, that's entirely different.

A. It's not a videogame console, cart, or controller. It's a just a car.
B. It's someone else's car.

So yes, I'll run them off the road any day of the week. It's always more satisfying to see fear in a person's eyes than to see a hairline fracture develop on Buster Brothers*. And carts don't explode with a pleasing fireball when they run headlong into a guardrail.

*[Still irritated, after all of these years, that Buster Brothers (SNES) doesn't have a fucking 2 player mode!!!!!!!! Why not rename it to "Buster Orphan" or "Buster Sole Survivor", or something relevant? Stupid SNES and it's limitations....]

I had my first fit of destructive videogame rage yesterday. While playing Jak & Daxter the Precursor Legacy I died so many cheap deaths due to the camera trying to free the last sage in the end that I took the game and snapped it in half.

Other than that nothing. No broken consoles or thrown controlers. J&D is the only game to get me mad enough to lash out at it physically. And the only reason I broke it is because I knew I only paid $5 for it. If I had paid anymore I would never have destroyed it.

My friend a few years back rented a bugs life for Ps1 he told me he tried to make the bug climb a mountain or something but kept dying so he jumped up and down of his ps1---There were no survivers the funniest part was he had to pay for the game that he broke since it was a rental.

I have an anger amangement problem and I frequently throw my NES and SNES pads, but they seem to be too rugged for me to break. I have never deliberately broke a system or game in anger, I tend to give up on a game if I get too angry with it. I have, however detroyed some systems while attempting to repair them (casing and innards that is) but they were mostly NES toasters that I had given to me that did not work in the first place.

Zounds. The most extreme thing I've ever done is throw a controller across the room (of course, after checking that nothing was in the way). Otherwise, if I'm getting REALLY pissed off, I turn off the game and walk away and do something else. Like go onto message boards and gripe about it LOL

The closest I've ever come to breaking something was when I was playing pokemon stadium 2 on the 64. Anyone played the trainer fight with that bastard who always switches no matter what you do? Yeah, after I lost that this proffesor guy said "YOU SHOULD'VE SWITCHED!!!", and I took a can of soda and chucked it throughly at the TV screen. It didn't damage anything though, just a mess of soda on the floor that got cleaned up in five minutes.

My drunk ass dad use to smash up systems all the time. I have had two Nes's and two Super Nes's in the time that I lived there when I was a kid. He was a mean drunk. LOL . I know its not funny, but whatever.

I never ever get frustrated. I used to be able to go through a small section of ghouls and ghosts for hours over and over until I passed it without a single thought about it whatsover. It would drive my college roommates nuts! LOL

Luckily I've never damaged a whole system but I've thrown several controllers around. The NES controllers seem to be unbreakable, one even has some bite marks on it... The only thing that ever broke was an PS1 contoller. I got so mad I smashed on my closet and it was torn in two parts. Fortunately id didn't break in the middle but just the upper part was torn away from the under part. I could press the thing together again and it still works fine now.

I tried to play Tenchu 2 stealthily, and got frustrated as I kept getting discovered. Eventually I smashed my Dualshock on the floor in a fit of rage. It still worked after that but the casing had sort of seperated, so when it rumbled it would occasionally give me a small electric shock. I guess that was a good reminder to control my temper.

I once or twice threw my Jaguar controller toward the system while playing Tempest 2000. No damage ever occured, and I knew I was throwing it where the carpet would catch it. Usually, I just put down my controller...

I also once tripped over my Jaguar and knocked my Jaguar CD from it while having a fight. But that was a real world fight and had nothing to do with the Jaguar. Luckily, it was okay too.

I've destroyed some other video game things (NES Advantage, NES Console, Genesis controller, 3DO controllers), but that was from being curious and trying to figure out the internals.
