Anyone having issues signing up to download at mame.dk lately? I've been trying to and they keep reporting db problems, so now I can't go and download any updated rom file sor new ones.

No troubles here, though I rarely use mame.dk any more - as I've said a million times, you'll get much faster results in newsgroups like alt.binaries.emulators.misc (or .mame).

Welp, it looks as tho mame.dk is entirely down. Now the only other option I can think of for up to date roms would be the newsgroups.

Welp, first step is to download Newsbin Pro:
http://www.newsbin.com
Then, get your news server. Your provider gives you this info. For example, I'm with Optimum Online and their news server is news.optonline.net . After you have this info you can set up Newsbin Pro. After that it is an simple as adding a newsgroup to your favorites inside the program, double clicking on it to see what roms or whatever is posted and clicking on what you want to download!

Been down for awhile now. I hear it is down because of some sort of dispute with their provider, but don't quote me on that one. I'm not sure when or if it will be back up again. For now we all pretty much have to resort to the newsgroups or IRC for the latest roms.

Chat, in other words. Rom sharing the old-fashioned way.
Another alternative is to send off for the romsets to be mailed to you (at a minimal cost of blank media and postage. Look here:

If I remember, mame.dk had closed down because they currently can't afford bandwidth. It'll be back again if they get enough donations, I think.
