So I'm thinking about getting an Atari. Are there any advantages to getting a 2600 instead of a 7800?

well a 7800 can play most 2600 games. but if u want 2600 vs 7800 here it is
2600 more games
7800 better grahpics and sound
7800 play 2600 games
2600 has a bunch of models to pick from all have differents highs and lows
If u are going to collect this system then I would get a 2600 but if u are just doing it for gaming then get a 7800

I'd probably start with 7800 as there's lots of 7800 games you can get cheap and it's better than 2600 counterparts.
A word of notice, not all 7800 works properly with 2600 games. A few games (mostly Activision games) don't work on 7800.
If you plan to collect and are going to get both anyway, I would probably get a 2600 first because they're cheaper and easier to find. Otherwise get the 7800.
