n00b Atari 2600 sound problem?

I just picked up a 2600 from a friend who probobly hasn't touched it for 10 years. I have the little game>tv switch box and the power cable hooked up. I'm thinking I hooked it up wrong though... because theres no sound only a humming noise. >_> Sorry if this was a stupid question, I couldn't find any info anywhere!

Is it a proper power supply?

9VDC, 500mA
Plug type 1/8" phone
Polarity Tip positive


Are you on the right channel (2 or 3 I think)?

Is the game clean? Try compressed air on the cart slot too.

Is the Rf switch a known working one?
