Bug in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance?

I'm about 17 hours into the game and I have a problem that could keep me from ever finishing this game: I can't access the subscreen during battle and therefore can't use law cards nor save during battle.

Anyone has had that problem with their copy of the game? According to the manual, that subscreen is accessed by pressing Start during battle. When I press Start, nothing happens. Yet my start button does work elsewhere in the game.

It's quite frustrating... I could very well just exchange this copy for a good one at work, but that'd mean I'd have to start all over again. :( :evil:

Er, no. You can't just press Start, here's what you do:

During one of you character's turns when they have the Move/Action/Wait etc... menu up, press B. That menu will disappear but your character's portrait will remain. NOW you can press Start and get the submenu, they did a bad job describing how to get to that menu in the instruction manual.
