Found a nice little stash of complete Saturn games I didn't have at my favorite pawn for $3 each:

Mortal Kombat II
Battle Monsters
Street Fighter: The Movie
Slam 'n Jam '96
Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge
Golden Axe: The Duel
...they also had a loose Fighting Vipers and Virtual Fighter 2 which the gave me for free also.

At another pawn I picked up Contra: Shattered Soldier and SOCOM for $8 each. That Contra is SOOOO badass! Plays allot like the NES original.

And I've got Final Fantasy Chronicles coming in the mail as part of a trade.

Well, they were selling the preview disc for $5. The tag on the game said $5, so did the placeholder plate.

I took it to the register (as $5 was all the money I had), and it rang up at 1 cent.

The cashier did not look enthused to ring it up :)

I bought the last one our store had...

This is less of a find than it is a sighting…because it got away, no less. :(

Just got back from Savers, which I've been hitting rather frequently lately in an attempt to find the two remaining McDonald's Sega games I need to complete the set. I know I should have got these when they came out in June, but I had just finished running my ass off to every McDonald’s in town getting the complete set of fish from Finding Nemo for my kids, and I wasn’t really looking forward to yet another two weeks of Happy Meals. Besides, it’s only been in the last month or so that I’ve become obsessed with Sega hardware, hence I am Johnny-come-lately.

Because they get a lot of these fast food premium toys, what the local Savers does is take all of them and put them in these little “grab bags” for one to two dollars apiece. The bags are then hung from a huge peg wall. So I was looking through these bags for my missing Sega games when I hear a familiar beep-beep noise. I look over and there’s this granny holding one of these grab bags and inside is the very “Ay-Ay” monkey game which I am missing.

I grow very still and very quiet and wait for her to put the bag down…she stand there for several minutes mulling it over and walks towards the damn cash register with it!. In my brain I’m suddenly screaming: :bad-words: NO YOU OLD BAT! PUT IT BACK! I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THAT FOR WEEKS! She didn’t hear me it seems. Had I been there fifteen seconds sooner… :frustrated:

So first my son beats me at Soul Calibur (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19321) and now some bluehair beats me on a thrift store gaming score. This has definitely not been my one of my better weeks either as a gamer or a collector  . I know I could get the McSega thing off eCrack, I mean Ebay, but I’m fairly confident that I can find it at Savers eventually, so I don’t yet want to admit defeat.

Side note: Old people at thrift stores are effing mean. My loss notwithstanding, I get one grab bag with some things for my daughter in it (i.e. – I have one item for checkout) and I have to wait at the register fifteen minutes for two old coots ahead of me, both of whom: a) Had fully loaded shopping carts, b) demanded senior citizen’s discounts c) Argued their final totals. I mean, whatever happened to “You’ve got one item and I’ve got twelve, go ahead of me”? I guess when you get to be over seventy-five and senile, every second left in your life starts to count for double and even the simplest courtesies go straight out the window.

My local TRU put out their back stock of Dreamcast games, many for only $10, I freaked out on Monday when I saw few of them and just bought them (didn't even blink):

Industrial Spy $10
Reel Fishing Wild $10
Bust A Move 4 $10
Buzz Light Year $10

Of the 4, Industrial Spy is probably the rarest, I can't even find this new on half.com no matter how much I'm willing to pay.

It's not that crappy, but it's hardly a quality title either. It's got some damned funky music and the gameplay's semi-addictive so I think it was money well spent.

More finds today:

Shenmue II (Xbox) and Project Gotham Racing (Xbox) - Brand new, $39.50 AUS each.

This one was in the Xbox case, just marked with red stickers. I know that a couple of Target stores here have a display on the backside of the game cases with greatest hits/clearance games too...

I think that's just old people in general. I worked retail for about 12 years and either they were really nice or very mean. The worst were the penny pinchers -- I realize that a lot of them grew up in the Depression so evrry penny did matter then, but some of the people would hold up my line when I was a cashier for 15 minutes going over each and every line on their reciept and bitching about any tiny discepancy that they thught they saw. Eventually, I kept some small change on me so I could just give them a quarter or something and hope they would go away.

One time, a particularly sad battle-axe came back in after she was in the store bitching about something that rang up for 50 cents more than "it should have been" (she actually had us confused with Wal Mart or some other store in the area). We did give her the 50 cents, but the whole time she was complaining how she had to drive home and then back, which I assume burned off more than 50 cents worth of gas. And she was insinuating that we (the employees) were trying to purposely rip her off -- yeah, we'll take that 50 cents and head to Vegas with it, lady.

Sorry for the rant -- too many years of retail hell, I guess.

Turbo Graphx stuff, freeeeeee from a great friend. Includes the following: Two consoles, one non-working, probably try repairing it. Several controllers, a system box and pack-in poster. And of course, a loose copy of Keith Courage.
