Hudson making Smash Bros style fighter

I saw this over on www.phuck-ign.com last night. Hudson is making a Smash Bros style fighting game, called Dream Mix TV World Fighters, using Hudson, Konami, Takara and Genki. Confirmed characters include Simon Belmont, Bonk, Bomberman, and Yugo (from bloody roar). Supposed to be released on PS2 and Gamecube.

I'm hoping like hell that this one is legit...Bomberman is too sweeeeeeeeeet 8-)

WOW! That sounds fantastic, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that it sounds too good to be true. Hopefully this thing comes out, I'd love to play it! I know this is a bit of a stretch (okay, alright it's several miles of stretch) but maybe a mech from Phantom Crash could be included in this potential jam session. We can dream can't we?

BTW--what notable characters did Takara have? The only thing I remember about them were a stringof mediocre NEO*GEO ports.

@jay: The only things I can remember Takara for are the Penny Racers games (Choro Q in Japan) and the shitty ps2 budget title "Seek and Destroy," and I don't see how either a car or a tank will make it into a fighting game :/.

If you go to the character section they show some of the ones in the game, but there are also a bunch of ones that they aren't revealing at the moment. I would be shocked if Bonk doesn't make it into the game. It looks promising, but it does have big shoes to fill after a game like SSBM.

Unless they can strike a deal with Hasbro, they'll have to rename Optimus Prime Convoy when this game is released in the United States. Takara owns the design for most of the Transformers, but not the US names.
