I've just sold a Rock n Roll Racing 2 (PAL) to a guy in Canada. He's emailed me back saying that the game won't display properly. I know the game works as I was playing it shortly before I posted it out, so I'm guessing it's a 50hz/60hz incompatibility issue? What do you US (oops.. and Canadian) gamers use to play PAL titles?

You have to mod your PS1 to play PAL titles. It MIGHT work with a boot disc, but I don't know....probably mod only. By the way...how IS Rock N Roll Racing 2? It never came here that I know of, and I LOVED the first one, but is the sequel good?

I thought a mod only lets you play Import NTSCgames not Pal games.
Pal games run at a different Hz and you would have to have a Pal T.V wouldn't you ?

I have one PAL game and I've never been able to get it to play correctly on my TV. I keep hearing if you have a fairly modern TV, PAL games should work, but I own 2 modern TVs and on both I get the same problem; colors are off and the picture starts about a 1/4 of the way down the screen.
Sorry this doesn't help any, but I'm kinda curious to the answer as well.

Heres the problem folks PAL is PAL and NTSC is NTSC and unless you go out and find a muti system TV (and they do make them but there expensive)
You will never be able to play a PAL game on a NTSC TV

Untrue. I play PAL Doshin the Giant for GCN fine on my NTSC TV...all of them infact. Same with Shenmue II, the only problem with Shenmue II is the slow down.
However, Pink Panther and Tin Tin will not play on my TV through my Playstation. They are impossible to even see, due to a "rolling" screen. Mod Chips, Boot Discs will not work for PAL games on an NTSC Playstation which makes me think it's more the problem lies with the way the system is programed to handle the region differences, and not the actual TVs.
Wanting to play these games has foced me into using emulators to call up the discs through my PC. They work fine on there, but it took me awhile to find an audio driver that would give me sound.

Exactly the problem he's having. I'm glad in a way, it's not just me being thick!

This is one of the few areas where PAL gamers have the advantage:
Just about any European TV made in the last 5-10 years is capable of outputting 60Hz aswell as 50Hz, since it's easier/cheaper for electronics firms to produce 60Hz TVs worldwide, and then modify those intended for 50Hz regions, than it is to produce two seperate standards.
