Has anyone noticed lately? But, Microsoft has actually been making some interesting deals to get things on the Xbox.

- D&D Heroes (now shipping?) was a multi-platform game that Microsoft got only Xbox exclusive

- Bioware is now developing an Xbox exclusive RPG after the success of their (Xbox first) Star Wars: KOTOR.

- Microsoft announced they have entered a partnership with Epic Games, the creator of Unreal games. Epic Games will develop several exclusive titles for Xbox and Windows, which will be published by Microsoft Game Studios.

This is of course on top of Rare and other deals that they have made in the past. Then, there are the supposed rumors that they got Half-Life 2 for a one year exclusivity on the consoles, and the Doom III rumors. I used to think that Microsoft hasn't done enough deals to secure games as X-box only, but now I am starting to wonder if they are heading down the right path. Has Microsoft finally opened the fault and started to buy some support for the Xbox? Does anyone know any other deals that have been recently announced? PS2? GC? Personally, I think that the Xbox's releases may surprise some people, especially in the next year. Anyone else?

:( Please don't turn this thread into a fanboy thread! I am begging you! :(

I'm not an XBOX fan, but MS is doing what they need to not only to survive in the market, but try and become #1. This generation will be hard to win since Sony had so much of a head start and people were leery of MS. But what they have is the groundwork and previous experience to shock everyone and take a huge headstart next generation.

You know, the one I won't be buying any systems from for a long long time. Heh.

I just have'nt bought a XBox for the simple reason that the games I am interested in are either PC games first and I allready have (Morrowind) or are coming to the PC (Halo, KOTOR) or are on the PS2/GC (Buffy).

Once a 'must have, only for XBox, and NEVER for anything else' game comes out, then I might just get a system used. :-D

I've had a love/hate relationship with the Xbox (current status: "separated," due to my TV dying :().

I think that MS is doing very well and delivering great games and offering wonderful deals. That Sega GT/JSRF package last Christmas was absolutely brilliant marketing-wise. There are a lot of quality exclusives for the system, you just have to look for the sleepers as well!

- Phantom Crash
- Deathrow
- Panzer Dragoon Orta
- Sega GT 2002
- Jet Set Radio Future

I think that with MS diving into the gaming market pretty seriously and giving gamers some games they really want to play (Half Life 2) that they're going to be a serious threat to Sony in the next generation.

What about Buffy 1?

The first Buffy is better than the second, for sure. It was Xbox-exclusive, so it pushed the hardware a little more, and it had the real Willow as a voice actress, and there weren't any contrived puzzles, and the fighting action was slightly more satisfying.

Halo 2 is going to be Xbox exclusive...the reason the first one came out on PC and the ilk was because it was in Bungie's contract with MS, if I do recall. But the sequel WILL be Xbox exclusive, as far as I'm aware.
