When was the last time you played the good ol' 2600? What was it? What hardware were you using? Was it emulated?

For me, I played Death Star Battle on emulation this morning. My Atari is in storage right now, so I can't get at it. But, what a great game. It's my favorite Star Wars on the 2600. I love the graphics and it's fun... a bit repetitive though...

It just feels like there's been a lot of discussion lately about the newer systems. I want to hear some thoughts on what's been in people's Ataris lately. And, if they've been playing them at all.

I played the Activision compilation for Playstation, and I wasn't impressed. Does that count?

I haven't played with one of my Ataris for a month or so besides that.

Just this morning, I played "DP Kong" from the hack that's pinned at the top of this forum. It's binary version 10 to be exact. Cool stuff. Emulated.

I have an Atari 2600 hooked up to the upstairs TV and most recently I was playing "Alien's Return" of all things. Horrid little game but I had forgotten the basic mechanics of it so I gave it a quick run through.

I intend on doing so in the next few days, as I obtained five free common carts yesterday, none of which I have played since I was a kid. My "woodie" is still connected to the TV, while my Jr. hides up on a shelf.
Last time I actually played it on the TV was about 3 months ago, playing Demon Attack. :rocker:

A few weeks ago I popped QBert's Qubes into my 2600jr just to see if it as bad as I remember. It's worse. God that game is unplayable.

I play Atari literally every other day. Recent games played have been Halloween (thinking about trying to beat my old world record on Oct. 31!) ; Pitfall II; Ghostbusters; River Raid, and Mythicon's Sorcerer (God help me, I love it so.) :embarrassed:

I almost never play my atari. Hell, the last time I played it was right after CGE, to make sure the new power switch I installed was working, and before that it was about 9 months ago to test my new Quadrun with manual I got for $4

The last time I played ANYTHING Atari, let alone the 2600, was when I was driving home from CGE. Booted up my Lynx for in the car. For the 2600, it was AT CGE, when I was losing HORRIBLY at Warlords. (Don't worry, I'm practicing now, next year you're mine!  :P )

I played DP Kong on my laptop a few days ago, I think it was version 6 or 7?

Ya know, I have Sorcerer, and I have only plugged it in to test it once. I remember it being horrible.. Should I give it another chance Sniderman? Give me reasons why I should if you can.

I say I average an "Atari play" or two once every week or so. Whether it's on the real thing or not depends on where I'm at.

Yesterday I played Flash Gordon on a 2600 on an old tv.

Day before yesterday I played Crystal Castles on the Xbox via emulation.

Played with my 5200 last night, some sweet sweet Missile Command Goodness.

It's been a couple weeks since the heavy Sixer had some use. My 7800 got used yesterday too.

I play Atari almost everyday. My main system is the 8bit computer which has a huge library of choices. Been playing Bounty Bob, Miner2049, and Super Pac-Man the last couple of nights. Today I played 2600 Air Raiders and Radar Lock through emulation.

And since NE146 mentioned it over at AtariAge, I also played 5200 Joust on an emulator today (it is as good as advertised :) )

I usually play any games, any system through emulators that are discussed on the forums here and at AA, like a few days ago there was a discussion about 2600 Air Raiders, Spitfire Attack, and Radar Lock so I had to play those again.

It's been months since I've played an Atari system, as I don't have one of my own. I should, but the only consoles I've been able to find around here are badly beaten ones priced at $50 in tacky video stores, or dusty ten-dollar decks without any controllers or cables.

I've been playing AA least once a week alot lately, along with random instances of loading up StellaX to play Atari 2600 roms. Heck also been playing alot of Ms. PacPC at school.

Sadly, the last time I played Atari was this summer, when I had my old laptop with StellaX installed on it. I think I played mainly Pitfall! and Keystone Kapers.

I was playing Gorf on my Atari 7800(2600 title)....and being reminded that my golden years of twitch gaming are long gone! No really, Gorf is hard, but it is that difficulity that makes me keep coming back!

Arr... I played Frogger II just 2 days hence. 'Twas a blast I tell ye. All a man needs in life is a bottle of rum, an Atari 2600 and the open sea....

I played Steel Talons on my Atari Lynx about a few weeks ago. Despite the dodgy frame rate, it's still a rocking (and damned tough) game.

I probably play more Atari 5200 than any other system. Mostly through Emulation on my Dreamcast, sometimes through emulation on my Xbox and sometimes I drag out the old beast itself. I just love those old games....

I play my 2600 at least twice a week. Super Breakout, Missile Command, Pitfall II and Gravitar are constants in my life. I have two hundred 2600 carts, but the aforementioned titles are my must haves. The 5200 comes out often as well.

Now that I think about it, my 7800 hasn't had any voltage run through it in months. Need to re-investigate that console, I think.

I've been firing up my 2600 emulator a lot lately... usually because it's the only one that runs near full speed on my PC. :(

Just played Montezuma's Revenge and Gyruss (2600 titles) on my 7800 a couple of hours ago.

Just a thought here, even though I haven't actually played any Atari stuff (save for my z26 emulator) in a long time.

I was stocking new releases at work today, and (even though it's just Infogrames with a new name) I was happy to realize that I was opening boxes marked "Atari" and carrying the familiar logo. Kinda nice, in a way.

Then, after work, I trotted off to the video game store that's right down the way from my employer and picked up a new (to me) SNES game.

All in all, a good day for gaming...eh, me hardies?

I haven't played my 2600 in ages (mine is a 2600 Jr.), unfortunately. Why not? I'm just too lazy to plug the darn RF switch to the TV (although I already have an old-style RF plugged into my bedroom TV cos my Colecovision is in the bedroom).

I really should plug it in this weekend and become familiar again with Solaris, Commando (and get that Commando music stuck in my head!) and Asteroids. Besides, I have yet to try out my copy of Stargate for the 2600.

One thing's for sure: there's no way I'm gonna use the original 2600 controller. Since I'm left handed, having to cradle my right hand around the base to reach the fire button means a sure cramp after some time.

Regarding Activision Anthology: I have a copy for the PS2 but haven't played it yet (I don't currently have a PS2; I'll probably buy one by the end of the year). I also intend on buying the GBA version (hey, 2600 gaming on the go!) when it's released in November, unless reviews are utterly horrible (à la Midway Arcade Greatest Hits GBA).

Been playing quite a bit of California Games today, since I bought my three dollar Atari Lynx at the flea market.

It needs a battery cover, though...

The GP32 (nice little handheld) has a couple of decent Atari 2600 emulators.

I've been moving all my consoles out to my arcade, so hopefully I'll have one of my real 2600's hooked up out there.

I picked up a box of 2600 games from a garage sale this weekend for $5. Had about 15 games, but down in the bottom was M*A*S*H and Journey Escape down in the bottom.
