... there's a catch!

If you've been watching my latest collecting habits (or have assisted, thank you very much!) you know that the last US retail release Sega Genesis game I needed was Aero the Acro-bat 2.

I found that game today :)

I'm already starting to work out some way to get all 700+ boxed Genesis games into a single picture or at least all together for some great gallery collection shots, when I noticed a bit of a snag. My Action 52 is "cart only". The collection is all boxed except for this one game, and that just won't do for photographic purposes.

So I'm hoping that this group can come through once again. If you have one to trade or sell, or even if you can point me to one being sold online that you already konw about, please let me know! I'll make it worth your while - and i'll have some really nice photos to share. 32X and Sega CD... nice but this is really something special.

Can anyone help me with this?

Sorry, Joe... I wound up giving my copy to the Cap'n (Wrong, who I haven't seen in forever) over a year ago.
By the way, did you ever find the Lobo ROM for the Genesis?

Gah! Well thanks anyway Jess.

Cap'n has been around, you just have to know where to look.

And I don't believe a Lobo ROM exists, I've been hunting on the web and newsgroups for nearly a year now. I believe that I have been misled!

Hey Joe, I know you have a complete DC collection, but how about Saturn?
It'd be great to put every single Sega North American game on bookshelves and take a huge photo (maybe even email it to Sega or a gamer mag)

Check it out.

I finished Dreamcast, Sega Master System, Sega CD, 32X and now Genesis. I need a few Pico games, about 100 Saturn games, and all but a dozen or so Game Gear games. I still have a long way to go to have any kind of complete Sega collection, but it might be neat to try to assemble what I've got all in one place.

It's gonna be fun doing the Genesis "photo shoot", I'm planning some cool stuff like all the EA Sports games together, the early "grid pattern" games together, the cardboard style boxes together, etc. Logistically not fun but planning it is :)

Those were both completed in 2002 when I wasn't doing this "time honored tradition" of photgraphing them.

I do have the TurboGrafx-16 photo though!
http://www.digitpress.com/images/tg16hu1.jpg

I guess it wouldn't be too hard to do the DC collection since they're all in one convenient place (and I still play this system more than any other)... the SMS collection will be more troublesome as some of those games are in tough to reach spots. I'll get to it though, all after getting this conquest photographed - this Genesis library feels much more like a "life's work" thing since it has taken 14 years to complete.

Sorry, I donated all my charity funds to the "Kids Without 2600 Crazy Climber Boxes" organization.

My suggestion is this; find an empty, in-ground, Olympic-sized swimming pool. Throw the Action 52 cart in first. Then put all your boxed Genesis games on top of it. Then dive into the center and have someone snap the picture from a helicopter. Trust me, no one will notice the missing Action 52 box.

All Genesis... all the time... dammit, I want!

I just recently started collecting for my Genesis again, and it's been so much fun. I don't collect boxes, so I'll never have a "complete" Genesis collection. But dude, all the US releases... if I may say...

You are a lucky and beautiful man. And my new best friend. :-D

Thanks, Joe. Thanks for telling me it took fourteen years to build up the Genesis collection.

I have roughly 30 Genesis games at the moment, most being complete. I've bought perhaps 20 of those over the past year, since I started getting serious about my collection. So lessee, at 700-odd games divided by 20-some games a year...

...my great-grandchildren should be having a fine time playing Test Drive II after I'm long dead. :P

Anyway, enough of my bitterness. Great job, Joe, and long live Sega!

I read your question, I just didn't understand it, so I didn't answer. Maybe someone else gets it? Or can you elaborate? This isn't Nintendo, there aren't "licensed releases" per se... but I may be reading this out of context.

Could you define "complete" NES collection? ;) If youve been following the Sachen thread, posting a collection as "complete," but missing the Sachen carts or complete with only licensed games might start a small war. LOL

Look for a SNES one in the very near future from yours truly. I really don't know how close other people are, but I am nearing the end. I will need a good amount of manuals, but next to nothing on the boxes.

Complete...Genesis...?

:o

A complete collection of anything is enough to make me stupid, but Genesis? Holy crap that's wicked.

I mean, how do you end up with ALL these games? I'm guessing it'd be possible if you hit eBay or something 24/7. MAYBE. Even then you could be looking for 30 years.

Congrats dude.

Ha! I'm an eBay fanatic but to tell you the truth most of my Genesis collection came from a holiday season when I worked at EB - taking in pre-owns was a brand new practice at the time and the store I worked in had no problem with employees giving customers a better price on their games than the store would. I easily picked up 300-400 titles that way.

I've also owned my Genesis since the system launched, so hunting for good titles and used stuff at a good price has always been on my hit list.

I used eBay mostly for buying the realy cheap stuff and stuff that I didn't want "in the day", and was great for filling in the gaps near the end, particularly sports titles.

Looking forward to getting some photos for everyone here.

Joe, you're truly a diehard gamer, even myself can't compare with you, I'm done with Neo-Geo, almost done with LaserActive, yet I'm still working on Dreamcast, just like you, I work at retail store (ShopKo) that cleared out so many new DC games so I had the first hand on the great deals, this got me started on Dreamcast collection frenzy, anything I collect, I have to make sure the majority of the game library is decent, in this case, DC fit in my book along with Neo-Geo.

For some reason I'm not crazy about Saturn as much as I'm with Dreamcast, although I have a number of games I enjoy, there're simply too many FMV and choppy 3D games, what makes DC stand out:

1. Perfect balance between graphics and game play: OK, PS2 and Xbox are more powerful, but DC is a vast improvement on 3D games, yet it gives you so many fun games.

2. Timing: We're at a time where vendors/stores are clearing out DC games in masses, something I missed out when it happened to Saturn.

3. Last: This is last real gamer's system, more importantly, last Sega's system, we're now collecting part of Sega's history.

As far as 16-bit, I'd like to see someone collecting Super Famicom, that's be a battle as there're over 3000 games, if I'm correct.

Soulblazer, here's my complete NES collection...

http://schwillz.com/ccdebt/index.html

Some notes... first, these are, like, 3 months old plus. More stuff in, the NTF2 is now Marty's... the SE is complete, etc etc.

The last 2 shelf pics don't exist the way they do in those pics. I've straightened the manuals out neatlike, and the stack of Deadpool/AgentX's is elsewhere.

The top shelves are somewhat reorganized as well.

And yes, Sachen is in there! If this bothers you, well, complain in the OTHER THREAD :)

Aaand I have over half the boxes, and I need about 100 manuals. It's not complete complete, but it's what I can offer to show.

Japanese titles

Time Gal
Blue Chicago Blues (have Jp LD-Rom2 and US MegaLD)
Pretty Illusion (have it on LD-Rom2)
Pretty Illusion 2 (have it on LD-Rom2)
Don Quixote (have US)
Road Blastor (have 2 copies in US)

LD-Rom2:

Melon Brains (have MegaLD version)

Hit the nail right on the head. I still have the little sticky note on my home office PC reminding me to get to this. That sticky note and about 250 others.

One thing I might be able to do, and that is take pictures of the various areas where they're kept. They're not all together in one place like most of my stuff. The really good and/or rare titles are in the game room shelves. The next 200 or so "overflow" before I realized just how much space I was going to need are stacked up on a game room cabinet. All of the sports games are in stacks in an upstairs room. The remainder, about 200 or so, are in stacks in that same room but in a different area.

Arranging them all together the way I REALLY wanted to do it is impossible these days, but I can get photos of each section, which is still fairly organized and might "work" in a pinch.

You're gonna owe me one if I actually take the time out to do this, you know.

Joe,
Do you have all the box variants also or is that not important to you? I ask because I just came across road rash 2 in a plastic case and also in a cardboard box. I didn't know they had been released in 2 different boxes. There are probably a ton of others released in both.

Likewise, I'm probably missing 3 boxed games or so at this point, can't even remember which ones I need now, I think I need cart only Jeopardy Dx, the boxes to World Cup and saturday nightslammersters and chavez 2, taking a pic would be tough, and it would definitly take some motivation
