This is the first time I've seen this game on Ebay in over a year...

$212 for a LOOSE CART that can only be played on a PAL MEGADRIVE on a PAL TV.
Wow.
Has anyone ever seen Romance of the 3 Kingdoms 4 for the Super 32x on Ebay on Yahoo? I've NEVER seen it.

I think that's the Japanese name for the 32X. :)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4 was the only 32X game that Japan got that the rest of the world did'nt.

It's been much more than one year since this was last on ... at least two or three. I recall it well ... it was complete, and it went for about $400.
Anyway, yeah. I wanted this one, but it's way out of my price range. Perhaps Joe will update the Guide entry now though ;) $75, R7 - I think not! If we are talking about a complete copy (as is the case in the 32X section of the Guide) then that needs to be upped to at LEAST $300 - and I would be more inclined to say $400. And surely it ranks as higher than R7?
Anyway.. I have a ROM of it on my computer, sitting waiting for me to find a decent emulator to see if it works! Hum de dum! Work to do!

I've got the ROM too, but I have yet to find an emulator that will run it as it was meant to be played. The game has got a lot of polygons and texture mapping going on (especially for a 32x game) and the docking bay sequence runs at 2-3 frames per second... awful! I hear there are a lot more graphicly intense sections of the game (like Motherships and the like) that run even slower. Maybe the emulators have been updated for better 32x support since I tried last...
The actual game runs ok when there is something simple on the screen, like a miner or an asteroid (I haven't played the game enough to go very far.) Little details that shouldn't bog down an emulator (like the flat background of the nebula) make the frame rate drop like a stone.
Sega 32x... USA/Canada
Mega Drive 32x... UK/Brasil
Super 32x... Japan

Though I think $212 is outrageously high, I'm going to have to jack up the Guide value simply based on the fact that this game hasn't been appearing ANYWHERE. eBay is just one of the indicators of this... I know hardcore Sega people who still haven't tracked down this game.

Oh, I agree ... $212 is outrageously high. But that is simply what happens when a game gets this scarce. Nobody has found a crate of these in a Warehouse anywhere, and I doubt that they will now. If there were any hidden reserves, I am pretty sure someone would have dug them out by now!!
Personally, I have been searching high and low across the UK for this game for several years and I have never even come across someone who has seen it. In fact, apart from on message boards and newsgroups, I haven't even come across anyone who has heard of it! I've checked out retro stores from London to Newcastle, and also in mainland Europe when I have been there. I've hunted in small ads and charity shops, all to no avail. I really don't see the price of this coming down at all any time soon...
... like Web of Fire in the US, there was a brief period when you could probably get this game for a reasonable price. That has now gone!!

Not exactly. That's the game that Frontier put out THIS YEAR for Pocket PC's. It's an enhanced version of Darxide with lots of extra stuff.

Joe, do you own Darxide or just stick to the American released titles???

I only own the US releases. I'm not "passing up" the imports but they're always second priority. I did bid on Darxide but it was a low bid. Really low. I'm cheap :)

I suppose you know me enough to expect that I'd now lash out at you for assuming I'm too stupid to see the words "Pocket PC" and "2003" everywhere in that article, but yeah, thanks. I was wondering if that Pocket PC game was a port of the original. I haven't managed to get 32x games working in Gens so I had to make a (believe me, Quite educated :) guess.

Sorry, my computer was being stupid. What I meant to say is how many imports were released in total including ones that were also released in the States? I know there were 39 in total but of all the games that came out here, how many also came out elsewhere? Get my drift?

I just played the rom on Gens for windows. Seems to emulate it pretty well unless I'm missing something? Tough game with the asteroids right on top of you most of the time.
