View Full Version : What SHOULD be ported to GBA?

I've read a lot of posts that have talked about what people want to be ported to the GBA, and that are disappointed with how and what IS ported to it. So, if you were in charge of picking out games to port, what would you choose?

Me, I'd choose Rocket Knight Adventures and Comix Zone.

There is one game I want to see ported, and I think that ALOT of people feel the same way. Gunstar Heroes is this game.

I am just wondering if the GBA could handle this game without ripping it to shreds with some of the slowdown that haunts a few of these GBA ports.

If they did it right, it would be a masterpiece.

I'd much rather have them put some effort into creating some new games I'd want to play on the GBA than doing lazy ports of games I tired of years ago. There are far too many ports on the system as it stands, STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!

I'd still buy a port of Gunstar Heros or Axelay tho...hee hee hee heeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

LOL calm down Tweak, have some coffee. :D

That would be great to see a Gunstar port. But what about, say, a De-Cap Attack port? Or a Mega Man X port for all the little panseys who've never played it before? :P

NOTHING.

Unless it's a compilation pack of more than 3 games, or priced under $10.

I don't mind ports, but feel like we're being screwed. If new original games are $30-35, then ports should be less. Especially SNES ports since they appaently take very little work to port over. Just my opinion. That said, I'd LOVE to see more shooters (ala Gradius etc)

Dang, I still need to play Rocket Knight Adventures! :O

Yes, I agree with the choices listed thus far (especially Axelay); but darnit, they'd better be REMAKES, not ports.

I'd like to see Pro Wrestling get released for the e-Reader.

I wanna see Mario's Super Picross on GBA. Oh my God that would be so good.

Hmm...how about MegaMan 1-3 on one cartridge, and then 4-6 on another? It would sell millions!

Or like the same thing, only a BOMBERMAN collection? That would R0><><0R5!

Treasure is hot as hell right now, how about Treasure Classics Collection?

Wasn't there a strong rumor, not so long ago, about a GBA version of Gunstar Heroes? And what about Treasure's Tiny Toons game? Did that ever come out?

Anyway, I'd like to see English editions of those 16-bit RPGs that we Americans never got to play in our native language outside of TEH ROMZORS or awkward PAL imports. It'd be nice if Namco translated the new GBA port of Tales of Phantasia, or if Quintet, which seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth, brought Terranigma to the handheld.

Other than that, I'd prefer original titles, although I wouldn't mind if the next GBA Metroid was a reworked version of the first game in the series.

They confirmed it? It looked like a remake from the previews, but I wasn't sure if Nintendo had announced it as such.

And you know what else would be great on the GBA? Ports of old Capcom arcade titles, like Wonder 3.

THAT would rock. There have been rumors of Radiant Silvergun being released on the GBA. PLEASE tell me they're true.

@ RetroYoungen, Comix Zone was ported and is available in Europe.

I'd like to see Gun Star Heros, any/all Twin Bee games, Neo Drift Out (can the GBA handle the speed and detail of NDO?), Metal Warriors and R-Type.

I don't think they actually confirmed that yet, but it looks to be the case. I personally would rather have new games then ports, unless the game is redone well like RE on Gamecube.

Wow, any plans on a CZ US release, or never because that would either cost to much or they like to see me suffer?

Metal Warriors=would rock.
R-Type=would rock.
Gunstar Heroes=would rock.
a NEW Mario RPG=would rock SO f*c*ing hard. :-D

Oh, god, I remember now. Silly memory. They (They're always causing problems, don't you think?) messed the speech bubbles up, but that's a problem going back to the original PAL release (which I own). :/

I'd be happy with a port of the 8-bit Tecmo Super Bowl with updated rosters.

All of the double dragons. The rest of the Final Fight Series, In the Hunt, Splatterhouse games. That would be very cool. Also I don't mean one game per cart. Put them all together. Splatterhouse trilogy would rock. \^_^/

Wonder Project J no doubt. The game that never saw a US release. That game needs to be experienced by more people, it's a shame, such a waste of such a unique game.

Info on WPJ for anyone who has never heard of it:

Flashback and Earthbound. I don't have a GBA yet (girlfriend says I must learn moderation *cracking whip*) so don't make fun of me too bad if these exist or are already in the works.

first of all......The GBA could easily handle games like Gunstar Heroes without slowdowns etc.
Don't forget that the gba is hell of a powerful 2D-machine

back to topic:
Thinking of all those wonderfully side-scrolling beat 'em ups(blood storm;cadillacs and dinosaurus;......) at the arcades;I'd like to see a 1:1 conversion of at least 5 of those titles on one gba-card.
It wouldn't be impossible cause the gba has easily the power and it's card-size is up to 256mbits (or even higher).

the same thing with cool arcade shoot 'em ups(Raiden2;....) would be great also....

I do believe Earthbound has been ported, (under it's japanese title "Mother") but it hasn't been released stateside yet. Hopefully it will be in the future, as that was one hell of a game. :)

Way of the Warrior! LOL

Seriously, I'd like to see more original content than ports from other old systems. Not saying I wouldn't buy a properly emulated Sega Smash Pack if I had a GBA, but NEW stuff is good.

Don't know if they exist yet, but I would LOVE to see ports of '80s Arcade games that have been mostly neglected by home systems, such as Mappy, Blue Print, Wizard of Wor, Zookeeper, etc...

I want a Bionic Commando Advance.

We never got the Super Bionic Commando we deserved, which frankly I don't quite understand, as we did get a 16-Bit Gargoyle's Quest. I guess Gargoyle's Quest was more popular in Japan, justifying it's 16-Bit upgrade... but still, I can imagine a truly awesome GBA Bionic Commando which utilizes classic BC gameplay along with Metroid-esque game design (arm upgrades, unfolding gameworld through power-ups) combined with the seriousness of a Metal Gear atmosphere.

But, it'll probably never happen... unless I buy Multimedia Fusion. :hmm:

I don't have a GBA, but would buy one if these games came out for it:

Berzerk
Baseball Stars
NES Open Tournament Golf

Does a GBA play regular/color gameboy games?

The sad thing is, Comix Zone for the Game Boy Advance was designed by Virtucraft, the same morons who totally screwed up Mortal Kombat Advance. The result is a game that's inferior to its Genesis counterpart... although considering how incredibly bad MKA was, it could have been a lot worse.
I was most disappointed by the opportunities that Virtucraft passed up on when they ported the game to a more powerful system. The Genesis version of Comix Zone had dithered backgrounds and limited colors, but still looked pretty good. It could have looked even better on the Game Boy Advance, but alas, it's actually worse.

But does it have all of the gamesave capabilities, the tournaments, the simulated players? It was the ability to win money and tournaments and keep a persistent character that makes that game so great.
