What are the usual prices for various sizes of these? I'm looking to grab a couple high capacity ones but can't seem to find a decent reference on what to expect to pay...

pretty much nothing. You should be able to buy a 400 disc black pleather disc holder with zipper on ebay for $10. Brand new in the store for $20-$30.

Really... I didn't see that when I searched. What terms did you use? I must have used the wrong ones!
EDIT: clarification: I haven't found any on ebay higher capacity than 256... can't seem to find any that will hold 400.

Our Target here almost always has 200 holders in the $20 range (probably the same as a $10 ebay one with shipping).
I recently picked up some clearance ones from Staples, 100 holders for $4.99. Available in neon yellow, or Barney purple. I bought all three yellow ones and left the purples.
Hastings also has new CD wallets with flames on them. Since the wife won't let me repaint the new minivan, this is the next best thing.

Those things scratch the hell out of CDs and games. I NEVER use em.

I second that. If it's stolen, also, you can kiss all those CDs goodbye, as opposed to losing a few CDs in jewel cases. Same thing for what happens if you lose it around the house.

I use the cd wallets for my older games. I keep the newer ones in the DVD style cases. As long as you are careful not to scrape the back of the disc on the zipper...you'll be fine. Many of the newer styles have nice fabric backings so the game won't scratch while in the pocket itself...
The biggest one I have is for my PC games: it's a 256 capacity, and I have both the front and back pockets filled with games...about 500 games in a 256 case :)

Yeah tehy definitely scratch your cds up.
Out of all of the brands I have had, I noticed that Case Logic tends to scrath the CDs the least. But it doesn't really matter, I just put copies of my cd's in there, so it really doesn't matter.
Cas Logic is expensive though. I think it costs around $30 for a 200 capacity.

I second, third or fourth (or whatever, who's counting anyway?) those who said that they scratch cds. For this reason alone I don't use them at all anymore. I just carry a handful of jewel cases to my car at a time now. Sure I might not have the selection instantly available, but if I lose it, I'd much rather lose the whole goddamn shebang than be left with a bunch of empty cases w/ liner notes, just how I am. When in doubt, do without.

For me, losing them or having them stolen isn't an issue. No one comes into my house that would steal and I'm not bringing them out of the house. As for scratching them, I don't think many of them are goign to get enough in and out usage that that will be an issue either. My biggest problem is space and being able to put these into books and store the cases elsewhere is the best solution. Besides, I'm probably going to mod all my consoles so I can play backups and then store the originals back in the cases eventually.

Hmm. I've always been too much of a sucker for cover art, and the nice big rows of cases (not that I have great big rows, or even one great big row). Still, if that's what you want to do, I'd suggest Target (you guys got Target over there, right?). They usually have CD wallets; the bigger ones are rarer, but I'm sure they're still around. K-mart should have them, too...I think the larger ones (that hold around 100 cds) cost...$20? Maybe $25. I don't know, as I don't use them. Check the electronics section.

That's 30...60, carry the 1...
Good deal, considering they're the same price for less space over here.

I'm with Chad on this one, I love the artwork and I love the look of jewel cases on a shelf, but my collection was getting out of hand. Right off the bat I have over 1,000 audio CDs. Combine this with ~400 PSX games, ~100 PS2 games, plus lots and lots of other random CDs, and a CD booklet is the only way I could get anything organized and managable.
Also Chad, what I did was put the list of what was in each booklet into Excel. The code I used was Game Name - 1A (for front of the first sheet) and 1B (for the back side). When done, I alphabetized the list, cut out the sheet, and taped it to the inside cover of the booklet. It solves two problems. 1, I can now find stuff again, and 2, when/if a CD comes up missing, I won't lose sleep driving myself mad wondering which one it was.

Eh well... I looked and looked but saw nothing even at 300... so I bought what I bought.
