I remember when I was a wee lad, I used to hope and pray that the day would come where a certain video game of a certain tv show or movie I loved would be on those 8bit shelves at my local toys are us.

A few of my hopes were:

A Capcom made "Gummi Bears" video game following their Disney cartoon tradition.

A Gremlins 1 game.... I was always confused when I was younger why they had a Gremlins 2 game and not a Gremlins 1. How could they get to 2 before 1?

Same thing with Goonies 2. Later I found out there was a Goonies 1 games that was never released in the US.

So, the question is... any of you guys ever wish for a game based on your favorite movie or tv show that didn't come out?

There are Gremlins (based on the first movie) and Goonies (from 1985) games for the C64... as the publishers were Atari and Datasoft respectively, both came out in the US ;)

goonies was a pal-nes game :)

what i would like to see is "Running Man" and a good "American Gladiators", others would be a good "A-Team" game, a "Sabre Riders" game, a "Marshall Bravestar" game, a "Galaxy Rangers" game and best of all a "Takeshis Castle" game (you know, that weird japanese gaming show)

E.T. I wish they would have made a real game instead of that pile of dung.

I'd like to see one based on the sleeper movie Ghost Dog. In the movie it was referenced that he did 12 hits, so perhaps something spanning the 2 years in which he made those hits. It would be something like Hitman 2 I suppose, perhaps a bit more creative.

Army of Darkness, yes I know there are evil dead games, but I mean a GREAT ONE.

Highlander with an authentic Queen sound track.

You play the game across centuries and battle other immortals for the prize.

Part sword fighting game, part mission based adventure

"There can only be one!"

Check out the E.T. Phone Home! game for the Atari 8-bit series. Great game that should have taken place of the 2600 mess.

Mayhem mentioned the C64 titles, but there were also Gremlins (1) games for the Atari 2600 and 5200. The 5200 game is outstanding.

Same thing with Goonies 2. Later I found out there was a Goonies 1 games that was never released in the US.

The original Konami Goonies game was indeed available in the US, but only in the arcades as one of the Vs. Unisystem titles - Vs. Goonies. I was so stoked about it that when the Goonies II game finally came out for the NES, I was majorly disappointed since the games are so different.

If someone could do justice to a King of the Hill game I'd buy it immediately, but I imagine that it would be a tough game to put together, I tell you whut.

And if there was a Black Belt Jones game with Final Fight / Die Hard Arcade styled gameplay complete with early 70s funk score from the movie, you can bet I'd be first in line to buy it. Right on.

Would have made a great squad-based super-hero comedy game.

"Thunderbirds Are GO!" utilzing some fancy-graphical technique to approximate the effect of "Supermarionation". Word.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this guy has the correct answer.

Most of you know Takeshi's Castle as "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge" on Spike TV.

That would be SWEET, I'd pick that up quick! QUEEN FOREVER!

But do you think one of the missions in a mission mode would be to kill Richie? I never really liked that little 200-year-old bastard...

Heh, how foolish of me to not mention these were things I wished for at the age of 5. Today I do own the Atari 400 Datasoft Goonies game (Easily one of my favorite games of all time) and the 2600 Gremlins game (Much like Kaboom it is).

My original post was based on games I wished were on the NES back in the day (The only system I owned for 3 years.)

Thanks for pointing out what you thought I didn't know though... it was an error in the original post.

Another movie I always wanted to be made into a a game was Ladyhawke. Such a great film with just the right recipe for a great action side scroller.

anything having to do with monty python would make a good goofy game, i know there was some sort of thing for the amiga computer but i never saw a console version. i'd really like to see the adventures of baron von munchausen made into some sort of game now that consoles could handle the lush visuals same for time bandits.

I'd like a better Airwolf game. (The NES one was horrible but the arcade one was OK), a better Transformers G1 (mystery of convoy for the famicom was terrible, headmasters on Famicom Disk System was a little better), MUCH better Nightmare on Elm Street(NES and PC were terrible), I'd also love a game where I could put my car in it. Maybe some sort of race game. Ford Motor Company History, hmmm there's an idea.

A Buck Rogers game based on the Glen Larson TV show (y'know with Gil Gerard?). Hey, they're bringing Battlestar Galactica to consoles, why not? With all the disco music and such the worlds and people would be very alien today. LOL

A game based on the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. Like BG above, they're making the new He-Man series into a game....

How about a better Knight Rider game? I think it could be done.

There's a Thunderbirds game on the C=64 and NES, and I think they're making one for the PS2.

Positive. It had to be Goonies 2.

Cartridge. Power Pad required.

I honestly don't know if the Japanese Power Pad is compatible with ours, though. I think it is.

There's also a fairly graphically impressive version on the Super Famicom.

I'd love to see a light gun shooter based on Fraggle Rock.

Nothing like sitting on the couch, drinking a beer, peggin' off those little fuzzy bastards with my Justifier!
