I don't have a ton of experience with the systems that are post-Saturn. I've always seen all the media hubbub about violent games, sexually explicit games, etc but these things don't really exist in the consoles I've spent my time playing. What are the games that really are the big ones in these areas? I'm interested to see if the media is just being pissy or if these games are that explicit. What are the games that fit this description, and what makes them that way? I'd like to see for myself.

the media is just being pissy. other than a few 3DO adult titles (HEAVILY edited porn movies), there really hasn't been anything that could be considered sexually explicit on a home console. the closest thing to offensive are the two outlaw games (volleyball and golf) from the now defunct simon & schuster interactive, which feature polygon babes bumpin' & grindin', and the awful bmx xxx, which i won't talk about too much because it's really bad, lol...

What is BMX XXX? I can't search on that string because I'm at work and that would be frowned on.

Aside from X-rated "graphic adventure" games from Japan, there haven't been any adults-only titles in a long time. Even the dreaded BMXXX didn't get the "AO" rating. In fact, I think the last game to receive that label was Neurodancer on the 3DO.

So, then, if there aren't any X rated level games, what are the ones that push the envelope the farthest?

Some people got in a huff over Conker's Bad Fur Day, if I remember right. That pushed the more obsene envelope with a boss made out of shit, a flower with huge knockers, and a few other scenes I seem to have forgotten... I need to go play that game some more...

I have that game but have not played through it yet... I'll have to add that to my queue, right after I finish Wario Land and Perfect Dark.

GTA3/Vice City get mentioned a lot because you can pick up hookers and then it shows your car bouncing up and down as you do the deed. A lot of the bible-thumpers got their info wrong and said that you HAVE to do this in the game.
The Getaway has lots of swearing... some of the cutscenes use the "f" word a lot.
BMX XXX has nude characters and you can unlock video of strippers on the XBox version.
In Postal 2, you can do things like piss on your victims after you've killed them.

Hrm. What Dreamcast games would folks say push the envelope? That's the most recent system I have.

GTA2 has a lot of cuss words.
Soldier of Fortune lets you blow off the limbs on your enemies.
The Resident Evil games are fairly bloody.
I can't really think of anything too violent and/or sexy on the DC though.

I HAVE a couple of the 'dating sims' from Japan (hey, don't look at me like that! They only have a few scenes of sex! :) ) and that really IS about the most extreme game you can get in the States.
To add to the others that have allready been posted, there's Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball, of course. ;)
Heck, some people might even be offended at the suggestive outfits that are worn by the girls of fighting games.

Whacked! has Lucy running around with censor bars. But the game is more humourous than anything else.

mh good question, as i do live in germany and the government does forbid certain games due to brutality or sexual contents i'll just list some newer games that are not allowed to be sold in germany:
Resident Evil 2 and some other RE
Quake 3
Unreal Tournament
Soldier Of Fortune
Medal Of Honor (PSX)
i think GTA: VC also had to be edited
BMX XXX is allowed

They also heavily edited the Wolfenstein games in Germany to remove any of the Nazi references.

I know there were adult games for the PC but you were looking for console games I think. I'm pretty sure that there were one or two on the 2600

That game based off of NE146's avatar. Oh yeah, and Custer's Revenge "on Dramcast or Xbox emulation of course". :-D

Yeah but it still looked forced. Just blood spurts not much different than Mortal Kombat. BloodRayne though had you hacking limbs off screaming Nazi's who'd then try to run away in addition to the blood splatter.
BloodRayne was the 1st game I heard the f-word in- just last year! She'll also call the monsters "bastard" &/or "f**ker" under her breath while getting attacked.
I should go back & play it again... 8-)
Also just found "D" (PSX) today- interesting, to say the least. No blood yet but it's at least as gory as any early RE.

I was pleasantly surprised at the bad language in Die Hard Vendetta on the Gamecube. Considering the language contained in the films, it seems appropriate for there to be a similar amoun in the game. Yippee-ki-yay etc. :D

I'm pretty certain we didn't get that one in the UK X_x
Any idea which countries it was released in?
