I cannot beat the first boss yet! (just picked it up last week BTW)

This is one of the best looking and funnestest game I have ever played.

I am tempted to throw it into EASY mode but I will feel like a weenie if I do.

Don't feel too bad. I suck at it too. That's why God created the GameShark. For those of us who just don't have the time to redo an entire level after getting killed by a level boss or face a random battle every 10 freaking seconds.

If that makes me a weenie... Well then pass the mustard.

I suggest playing on easy mode first, to get used to it, then kick it up to normal and so on.

Definitely keep on playing, because it is one of the best games for PS2 out there.

It is kind of hard, but once you get used to it you'll manage.

Yea.... the spider is gay. When I first got it.. I thought it was hard. I didnt play it for a while (FF9 owned me for a while), and when I picked it back up... I suddenly found I was better at it. I never beat it though... helluh fun though.

To beat him, just transform into Dante's demon, then just avoid of the spider's crap, jump over him and light him up with his pistols. Then just wait and try to repeat.

I HATED this game, and all games like this one. IMO all games should have a training level. Period.

SO MANY games have I found out 5 levels in that "Oh, I can DOUBLE jump?!" "Oh, I can HEAL MYSELF?" "Holy shit, that item I've been throwing away automatically brings me back to life!"

SICK of games that do this (Fatal frame, I didn't find out the stone mirror brought me back to life until halfway through night 2, no biggie really, but I would have saved a lot of my heal potions instead of passing up FIVE stone mirrors)

Something In Mario sunshine did this to me too, can't remember which stupid jump combo it was (I hate ALL of the stupid jump combos in SMS)

Games that should win an award - Tomb raiders training level, and Final Fantasy 7's training "house/room"

Yeah, that Spider is a bastard all right...

From what many people have told me, you really need to first play the game on easy, beat it, and continue on normal with all the enhancements you got while playing the game on easy, etc...

I thought of putting the game on easy when I got to the spider too, but it really isn't that hard.

The most important thing is to remember to use your devil trigger... I almost never used it and it made the game way harder than it was intended.

Yeah, milk that devil trigger, and exploit reoccurring enemies to build your orb count. The game never gave me any problems... (and no, it positively wasn't on easy).
