What videogame Character do you think should run for governer of California and why?

I choose Samus Aran. Shes the only character who could defeat all other 130+ nominees without speaking in a debate. She would just sit their eyeing up her opponents through her helmet while charging up her beam gun. And look at the results shes had with cleaning up SR-388 by ridding it of space pirates and metroids, i think she'd do an upstanding job with California.

I once made a nice animated sprite of him in Garry Kitchen's Gamemaker for the Apple II, so I suppose he just about qualifies:

If they can save the Moon, they can damn well fix California.

First, I would just like to...apologize for not posting earlier; I was probably one of the first folks to see the topic and started work on my stuff immediately. Fate, yes, and the ring of five intervened and I had to battle through many levels of sidescroller hell to get here.

My vote is with, as always, Shinobi (nevermind there's Joe Musashi, or Jo-Musashi as some call him, and then Hayate his son raised in America, of Shadow Dancer fame).

Oh look at Arnold! Can arnold put out a poster like this? I think not!

Here is another poster of Shinobi; here he's portrayed (in a slightly stylized manner) cleaning up various evildoers and nefarious street types.

His platform is a bit less convincing, I think:

Watch out, Arnold.

Mr. Saturn from Earthbound. Not only is he (semi) unintelligible, but he speaks in a different font than the rest of us. Go Saturn!

Geese Howard

Nah, they tried that. That's why we're having the recall.

I say let Parappa and Lammy run. That'll start the rap vs. rock war all over again, and make for a few more than intertaining debates.

There was an EntropyKid comic on this a while ago... Sadly, I think EntropyKid is gone now.

Mike Haggar from Final Fight

Now Mike would have the political record since he was mayor of Metro City. Plus he''s be the only in the running who could beat Arnold LOL

Aw, what's this? Nobody comments on my witty and halfassed poster edits/image compositions? I challenge everybody to make GOOD POSTERS, yes. Duke Nukem don't get a vote if I can't tell what state he's running in ;)

Don't feel too bad... nobody saw the humor in my post, either.
It looks like you did a pretty good job with those posters, but I have one question. What's a "musked ninja"?

Isn't Arnold already a videogame character? I mean, he was in games based on Terminator, Total Recall, Predator...

Anyway, as a resident of California and an Odyssey2 fan, I have to nominate Spyrus the Deathless, Timelord of Chaos, from Attack of the Timelord!. Maybe he doesn't have the name recognition of other classic game characters, but he can TALK! Think of the interview possibilities...

Greetings, Spyrus. Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions today.

YOU ARE A WORTHY OPPONENT.

Uh, right. Now, you've stated that the current state government is ruining California.

YOUR PLANET IS DOOMED.

The whole planet too, you say? Well, if elected, how do you propose to overcome the problems facing the state?

ATTACK AND DESTROY.

I see -- hit the problems head on.

A COMMENDABLE DEFENSE...

...is a good offense, of course. Sounds like you have great plans, Mr. Deathless... or is that Mr. Of Chaos? Well, anyway, what does your political future hold?

THE EARTH WILL BE MINE!

Big plans indeed! Well, I wish you the best of luck. Goodbye, Spyrus.

GOODBYE EARTHLING.

See? He's at least as knowledgeable as half of the frontrunners and easily has twice the personality of Gray Davis.
