Anyone got one of these?
I'm looking for somewhere online to buy one so that I can install Winning Eleven 7 to it (as the load times are rather poor!) but the only place I've found so far that has it is japanvideogames.com at $149.99. Anyone know of an online shop that sells these? Oh.. and ships to the UK too!

These were expensive as balls for the longest time - Sony couldn't keep up w/ the orders. It can't be that light, so if $149 includes most of the shipping from Japan, that's probably not a bad price. I think they retail for 25,000 yen, no?

Sadly, the $149 doesn't include ANY shipping, so I'm probably looking at an extra $25 or so for that. Plus there's a risk of incurring import duty when it arrives in the UK. Bugger! :(

Certain Maxtor drives fit onto the IDE connectors in the Network Adapter, but I've never been able to find software to create the weird ass filesystem that Sony uses on the thing.

The prices may come down on them after the news that the HDD is coming out in North America and Europe. I'd keep an eye on Ebay.
I guess the UK one (out in March 2004) probably won't work on your import PS2...

Davidbrit -- I assume you'd need a modchip to do any reworking of the HD... just a hunch. My Xbox has a 120GB drive in it. :)

It's hard to say. I suspect that you just need to give it the right filesystem, but I don't really have any way to test that.

After a rather thorough look around the net, I've come up empty. I popped in a spare 40gb HD that I had lying around but I've no way of formatting it to the right standard. It would be nice if someone who had formatted their hard drive using the Sony settings could upload an image of their drive for people to burn to their disk. That would work wouldn't it? :/
Or is there a set-up disc that comes with the Jap HDD kit that can be used to format the Drive correctly?
Hmm.. more questions than answers! :D Maybe I'll stick to bemani stuff for now.. it's simpler! ;)
