Well, now that were back in the swing of things, I would like to take some time to promote a fairly new Sega Master System emulator. It's quickly becoming my favorite to tell you the truth. The compatibility rate is quite high, has built in US/Jap BIOS, FM sound emulation, save ram support and some other goodies. The sound is perfect and the speed is full. Very nice indeed. It does not (yet) have light gun, 3-D glasses, and other peripheral emulation, but does of course emulate the game pads. I spoke briefly with the author and it sounds like he has many goodies in store for the emulator in the near future. Give it a try:

AVI? Looks awesome! I think it goes without saying that this program could use standard window controls in the top right hand corner, and being able to open ZIP files is also a must for any emulator I use. There also doesn't appear to be any option to set up custom directories...another must-have feature lacking thus far. That said, it looks great, especially for being only three versions out. Good stuff :)

Yeah, it still needs some tweaking, but it does look great thus far. The SMS holds a very special place for me, and I love to see new emulators come about. I really can't use Meka anymore. Although it's a great emulator I just don't like the "bulky-ness" of it much anymore and the sound emulation is never clear....as least on my machine. There are a few others out there that are nice...like Dega, ChaSMS, and Kega....but each have some features I love and some I need. I wish I could combine them all together and make one super SMS emulator :) Even better, I wish I knew how to code. Maybe one day when my life is less frustrating :)

I'm currently trying to lure some people away from FreezeSMS. For the longest time that had me convinced that all SMS games had really awful framerates. No more!

I think that SayaRX has the chance to go further than any of these other emulators, but that assumes a lot of things (usually one programmer can't handle a whole emulator, just look at how large SNES9x has become) but since the SMS is a relatively simple machine it might be possible to take various emulators for different chips on the machine and then focus on the features.

This emulator is definitely one to watch--possibly the top SMS emulator in coming years and possibly a Top 10 overall if it attracts any attention (I don't feel too optimistic about that, but here's a toast to believing in miracles).
