Hey gang,
Well, Game ON!: The Retrogamer's Trivia Game (http://www.digitpress.com/gameontrivia.htm) is a rousing success and has been well-met by collectors. I'm glad everyone enjoys it.
I've been half-heartedly mulling over a new edition to be released next year, but I'm a little stuck as to a "catagory" or "genre" for the next edition. The current set, jokingly called "Game ON Prime," covers pretty much the entire gamut of gaming from classic to now.
So, my question is: "What should the focus of the next edition?" It has to be a subject general enough that many people would be interested in playing it. It also has to be general enough that the genre can be easly broken down into 6 subcatagories. Some ideas tossed about include:
* Nintendo: From NES to GC
* Arcade games: Past, Present, and Future
* The Ultimate Atari 2600 Trivia Challenge
* PC gaming: From Zork to Quake
Anyway, this is just a brainstorming session, but what would YOU like to see a videogame trivia game based on? Toss out some general ideas. Thanks for the input. (Oh, and go buy a copy of Game ON! Supplies are running out!)

The Nintendo idea sounds great...but please NO PC stuff!

The audience for a 2600-only package might be a bit small. Would everything from the Nintendo up to (but not including) the Playstation be too broad?

ne thing I fopund really distracting wastha the answers were on the same side as the questions....I know this doubles the amount of cards in the stack, but I would gladly pay double, if that were the case to just have the answers on the back....it's ttought o challenge myself to answer when I accidentally see the answers half the time.
Just my 2c
A section on game desingers or game music might be interesting...

It should be about SEGA, a company who's never forgotten that games ARE fun!

I mean *reallY* discussed. That's the way we would've liked it, but - cost-wise - it would've been too much. The choices were to either:
1. Charge $20 for a deck of 50 "Q-on-one-side-A-on-the-other" cards - 600 questions. (Ugh, too small.) x_x
2. Charge $40 for a deck of 200 "Q-on-one-side-A-on-the-other" cards - 1,200 questions (Yipe, way too costly).:o
3. Charge $20 for a deck of 100 double-sided "complete Q&As on each side" cards - 1,200 questions. (What we went with.):D
It was a case of getting the most entertainment to the consumer without charging double. It was a tough choice, as we would've preferred that too. But it just wasn't good for us printing-cost-wise or for you final-cost-wise.

the answers and questions being on the same side is the one reason i didn't pick them up from joe when i had the chance. I like the concept, just not the format.

Hmmm... it's good to know that.
We really designed the game with "multi-player party" in mind. Something to consider for the next time around, I suppose.
The cards were pretty expensive to print and we're not really making any money on these. The only way to pull it off would be to mass-produce these, like in the thousands. If you saw the nonsense I had to go through getting the people at Kinko's to understand what we were trying to do you would have gotten the same headache I did. And our process was EASY - they didn't have to match up the backs with the fronts. I think my head will explode if I have to go through this again with that additional complication!
Still, good feedback and taken into consideration.

If you are going to keep coming out with new sets (which I encourage) then I think that you should have a few specialty sets such as classic only, modern only, PC games only, Atari only, etc...

I'd still Pay $40 for 200 "Q-on-one-side-A-on-the-other" cards - 1,200 questions or $20 for a deck of 50 "Q-on-one-side-A-on-the-other" cards - 600 questions.

what about putting the answers at the bottom of the card on the
same side as the questions? At least you could cover them up
while you try to guess the answer
As far as which system......any of them is fine with
me except PC

Tim I tihnk you did an good job last year, but they were a little hard. Maybe make some of the question a little easier. I tihnk the 2600 category sounds good to. I just don't think the PC one sounds good. I think it would make sense to do * Home Consoles* and do everything frmo Odyssesy to X-box.
