I recently got a VB lot from someone (Not you, sisko), and the head unit has a bunch of bad looking marks on it. I can't seems to get them out (The controller is like this, too). Is there some way to open it without a Nintendo bit (I need to open it so that I can paint each part a different color)? Also, what kind of paint should I use?

Try to find a spray paint the is SPECIFICALLY FOR plastics, they usually bond with the plastic on a chemical level so it doesn't just rub off. It's also VERY permanent this way (good or bad)
For the nintendo bit, well.... I DO carry them at the link below :D

Use sandpaper (some where between fine and rough grit) and sand down everythng so it's flush and to make the paint absorb a bit more. I used an RC Car model paint when I did my DC (check the resto society) and had no problems. I went through a lot and it was expensive, so maybe try using a primer.
Also, I highly suggest Sylentwulf's bits.

use krylon fusion paint it will work with plastic.make sure its clean and scuff it with some very low grit sandpaper.I would paint it black.

There is a very good step-by-step article for painting the VB on DogP's site:

Thanks. Does anyone know an approximate price on how much the paint should cost?

krylon fusion runs around $4 a can at walmart
you would only need one can of it.You want need any clear with that type of paint and you wont need primer unless you have alot of scratches you need to sand out then you might need it.
I just painted my entire pc case with the fusion paint and It came out perfect witout sanding, priming or clear. just make sure you use a good soap and a tooth brush to get in all the cracks once you have it apart because just a little oil on it can cause a nightmare painting it.TAKE YOUR TIME! and it will come out clean.

Hmm..That's pretty cool that you want to fix up/paint that head unit..
I guess if it doesn't work out..You may be able top find a bare base /head unit on Ebay...
And use that one for parts.
I've seen bare base units for cheap on Ebay before..but all I found today was this..

Heheh... yeah, I did one of my VB's, I just used normal cheap spraypaint from wal-mart the first time... everything turned out really nice, I was just trying to finish it off with a nice glossy finish and I ran out of clear... so I went out and got another can of it, and I guess I didn't think anything of it at the time, but I got a different brand of it, AND IT ATE THROUGH THE LAYERS BELOW IT!!!   . Anyway, so I went back out to wal-mart and got some of the hammered looking stuff... and that did a pretty good job of covering up the cracked/peeled paint :P .

Heh... yeah, take enough pics of it, then make an animated gif out of it... although I think it might look kinda weird with a giant display with the wings and everything spinning :P .
