Of course, everyone here knows that the Famicom disk game Doki Doki Panic was released here in the US in cart format as SMB 2. However, I noticed something interesting in the DDP instruction manual the other day. There's a sticker showing Mario and the young man from DDP shaking hands. I realize it's just meant to show the partnership between Nintendo and Fuji TV for DDP, but it does seem like a bit of foreshadowing regarding the release of SMB 2 in the US later on.
Well, at least to me it does. It's just one of those interesting coincidences, I guess.

Yeah, A Doki Doki copy on E-bay had this picture in the auction. At first I thought it was a pirate disk of the US. version of SMB2. I couldn't tell you if it was foreshadowing or what not. Interesting either way.

It probably wasn't foreshadowing in that sense, but it sure looked it. It's a pretty neat sticker though... I should find a way to scan it sometime. You wouldn't happen to have the link to that auction still, would you?

I remember seeing that sticker in an auction also once. Very strange coincidence that was seeing Mario and the Doki Doki Panic guy.
I believe the DDP guy's name is Imajin. The woman with the blue hood is called Mama, and the Mario looking guy is Papa. I think the girl's name is Lana, but I forget. You find out the character's names when you beat the game with them.

yeah, it goes for a LOAD on ebay. i remember missing an auction for one about 2 years ago in a lot of 10 fc games that went for about $40 (!), and the same seller listed a complete ddp separately, and it went for something like $80- go figure...
