Hello...
I lost my original Snes power suply and so I bought a universal power suply of 500ma to use with the snes. I pluged the snes and it worked great. I started playing super mario world. After about 30 minutes of play, the snes crashed, the imaged crashed and it became distorced. I switched the snes of, then back on and my super mario world saved game was erased. I starded a new game, and minutes after it crashed again and again terminated my save game.
Is this problem related to the power suply unit? Is 500ma not enough power for the snes? Or is my snes actually going?
Please help me!
Thanks!
Regards!

I would try to find an OFFICIAL AC adaptor. The power fluctuations in the universal adaptor could have something to do with your game erasing.

The SNES requires 850mA 10VDC.

I'd also look at the game, the battery could be gone also check the cart contacts, i'v had a game act up like that, the cart could be damaged also.
I think the voltage is between 9v and 9.5v (1.3a) but as it was mentioned you are better off getting an official power supply.
Also a Nes power supply would do the trick.

A NES Adaptor has a different jack I believe.

The NES power supply is 9VAC 1.3A It will NOT work in the SNES.

Come on now. If you use a little creativity and a hammer anything is possible.

Hey, RetroPlayer, PM me if you want an official AC adapter. You'd only have to pay for shipping.

i have a whole SNES unit you can buy :-P........also, when i was an unknowledged gamer. i would play NES and i never realized the ac adapter wasn't the original. probably some junk phone ac adapter or something. it would work but every 15 minutes it would just crash. and then i noticed how hot the system was, YIKES. see if it gets hot when you have it on for a while. and about your saved game, being overheated(poss.) and crashing like that could cause it to not resave the game from where you were.......other than that i'm unsure.

Plenty of them new on eBay for around $10, including shipping, if you're not in a hurry.

Hold on guys i think you are missing my point, Retro_player is in portugal? now if his snes is european (aka pal system)
The Nes and Snes use the same power supply, so you can use a Snes adaptor with a NES console and vise versa.
i should have gone into alittle more detail, in my last post regarding the snes region. doooh
Most of the reply's where from US and canadian dp'ers and your all right about the nes and snes being different, if he is in the US then he should do as you said and pick up a PSU on ebay.
Hope that helps ;)

Hello...
yes, I live in Portugal, but I post in this forum because I really love It.
Also, I love videogames and I do a little collecting, not much, because in Portugal there aren't a lot of retro players and used games for sale, so I try to manage on german and UK e-bays.
Getting a psu in portgal for the snes is very dificult, as there aren't many snes in Portugal. In Portugal the snes was completely washed away by the megadrive in it's day..
So I had to manage with a universal psu.
Thanks for the reply's!!!
regards!

A PAL SNES can be happily powered by a NES powerpack, it's just the US SNES that's different.
