I'm not sure what to make of this, I've heard stories upon stories of places being out of this game... yet my store has 4 sealed. I've been tempted to buy two copies, one for myself, and one to see if a 'sealed new copy OMGZORZ' ends up being a huge collectable.

I have a huge problem with anything on the PS2 becoming "Collectable" but then again... idiots seem to want a FF7 non-GH sealed pretty bad, and I'm certain there are more of those than there will be of the entire Disgaea run knowing Atlus...

I'd grab them if you've got the extra cash, but dump them on eBay ASAP if they announce another print run. This and Rez are the best bets to be in high demand in the future, IMHO.

This one WILL be worth more someday. Along the lines of ogre tactics, it's a great game for a very underplayed genre and it WON'T be re-printed in non-GH packaging. Personally, if you can find/get it for under $45 sealed, GET IT.

Every one of those auctions is AT or ABOVE retail price, for ebay, that's very rare, especially for a game that was just released.

What is retail price? I thought it was $49.99
And there are a lot of new ones for sale BELOW that. A lot more than for sale above that price.

Retail is $49,99, and I called Atlus a couple of weeks ago. There has already been a second printing as the initial printing sold out (hence the temporary shortage) and the second shipment should be hitting stores about now. IT won't be rare for a while yet, but if it's HALF as good as everyone says, it'll be rare later on due to high demand and the smaller overall printruns of Atlus games.

Gamestop is trying to sell them at $54.99 in my area. LOL

Truthfully, I never had any problem finding the game in my area. All of the regular places such as Gamestop, EBworld, Best Buy, etc... have had it in stock.

I was just hoping to find a used one but didn't eventually have the patience. I ended up buying mine at Best Buy. They had about six of them.

Where's my wallet? I wanna have it NOW.

To pay more than $50 is just insane. I put the game
on my must-buy-list and will buy it when it drops in price.
I'm cheap. :)

I just bought Madden NFL 2002 (GC, new) for $5,
and NFL 2 K3 (GC, new) for ten dollars, and Ready to
Rumble 2 (PS2, new) for $15. $55 and MORE seems
suddenly very very expensive. :)

Here are some quotes about the september game sales from another forum:

" Your FINAL month of September sales:

All numbers are MONTH TO DATE and represent Best Buy Regions 1-3, approximately 1/4 of all Best Buy stores

Madden NFL 2004 (PS2): 12,078
Madden NFL 2004 (GCN): 920
Madden NFL 2004 (XBX): 3,333
NFL Fever 2004 (XBX): 971
ESPN NHL Hockey (PS2): 643
ESPN NHL Hockey (XBX): 584
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (PS2): 832
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (XBX): 2,360
Otogi: Myth of Demons (XBX): 713
Halo (XBX): 1,938
WWE Raw 2 (XBX): 1,361
WWE Wrestlemania XIX (GCN): 1,009
P.N. 03 (GCN): 174
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg (GCN): 186
Silent Hill 3 (PS2): 1,140
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (PS2): 1,017
F-Zero GX (GCN): 1,502
Voodoo Vince (XBX): 74 "

There were some more games (and hardware) but I just took a few for reference. For being such a nich game (and an Atlus game) Disgea appears to have sold rahter well. Hopefully the trend will continue, Disgaea deserves good sales. More quotes:

" There are a few formulas out there to convert these numbers into approximate national data. The basic convention is that this represents 1/4 of Best Buy's total US stores, and Best buy represents about 10% of total game sales (very roughly). The formulas I've seen here are (someone correct me if I'm off):

Xbox: Sales x 4 x 8
PS2: Sales x 4 x 10
GC: Sales x 4 x 12 "
