Nintendo posted a $27 million loss.

Japanese video game maker Nintendo Co. Ltd warned Friday that it will post its first-ever loss in the first-half of its fiscal year due to massive foreign exchange losses and slack sales of its GameCube console. The maker of "Pokemon" games now forecasts a group net loss of ¥3 billion, or $27 million, for the fiscal first half, against its May estimate of a net profit of ¥15 billion and a profit of ¥16.5 billion a year earlier.

That may seem bad but the #2 console, the X-Box, and MS's Entertainment biz lost around $924 Million.. so there ya go.. Anyway.. read up on it here

In it's 31 year history? What happened to the other 54 years?

edit - (1918 was a guess, I think that's when they started up?)

Rats, this is bad news. If they continue to deplete their cash reserves at this rate they will be bankrupt in another 120 years. :D

I think 189-something is when they started up. Not too sure.

It's times like this I wish I hadn't thrown away my copy of "Game Over." (but it got rained on somehow and was fairly ruined :/)

Nintendo's been around since 1889, according to Game Over. That explains the "100 Years of Nintendo" piece they ran in Nintendo Power back in 1989.
