View Full Version : So I sawed off the back to my PBC and...

it works fine. Did an okay job, though the underside looks pretty scratched. I tried sanding the plastic even, but one end was cut at a band angle. From the back end attached, it looks weird, but form the front, it looks pretty normal. The 'POWER' hole on the Genny 2 at the same place as on the Genny 1. Anyways, here's my concern.

The whole PBC seems to hover over the Genny 2 casing about a half an inch, obviously because the cartridge slot is deeper on the Genny 1. The PBC fits in snugly, but it is wobbly from front to back. This is a bit of a concern, as I don't want to bed or break the pins on Genny from it being able to rock back and forth. The only thing I can think of is to glue on a hunk of plastic underneath the PBC to keep it stable. So I get this idea, and I'm wondering if it would work. From what I recall, the 32X fits flush with the Genny 1, but there's a spacer that comes with it that allows it to be flush with the Genny 2 (correct?). So if this is the case, and considering that the PBC fits snugly with the surface of the Genny 1, could I use the 32X spacer with the PBC to make it snug with the Genny 2?

Might work.

Please put the saw away. It makes me cry.

It seems to me with Genny Ones being so easy to find, and PBC's not being easy to find (I've never found one), that mutilating a PBC is a backwards approach.

Don't get me wrong, it's your PBC. It's just that once you've modded it for a genny 2 (in your own words - wobbly), it'll never be right again.

Hope it all works out for you!

I won two PBC's on eBay. I mutilated the one that had some scratches on it already. Didn't want to mess up the purty looking one :)

Quite simply, I could have used it on a Genny 1. But the thing is I wanted a PBC that I could use on a Genny 2. So now, I have one for each :) Even with the back chunk gone, note that I didn't screw with the sides or front, so it still looks okay with the Genny 1.

Makes sense to me.

You MONSTER!!!!!

Why not just hunt down one of those PBC's that were designed for the Genesis/Megadrive 2?

Sure, they're fairly rare, but you wouldn't have to harm any SEGA hardware.

Mutilated PBC, I weep for thee :(

Then again, I'm still using official hardware :)
