I remember playing Out of this World on the 3DO, and I thought it was a pretty damn good game, for it's time.
I know that this game has appeared on a number of systems, which version is the best.
I have to think that the 3DO version was the best, but I want to make sure.

I've played PC, 3DO, SNES and Genesis.
Of these, I like the Genesis version the best, simply because it seems to move along quicker (no load times and unflinching frame rate). You won't be able to tell the graphics apart from ANY of the versions, they're virtually identical in that regard.
It's an awesome game! When you're done, try to play the sequel, Heart of the Alien. That game ramps the difficulty up big-time.

I personally like the PC version as the graphics are a bit crispier (though I've never played the 3DO version). When I saw this game when it first came out, I was floored at the real time cinema from a floppy game (came out in 1991) and the excellant sound that came out of it. I was doubly amazed that this game could work on my 8088 10 MHz PC clone at home and was still playable.
If you are interested in this game there's also Flashback: Quest for Identity that follows in the same artistic vein as Out of This World.

Yea... but doesn't the Seag CD game, Heart of the Alien include its sequel too? I have yet to track down a copy of this, but it sounds like it would be great. I believe that it was the only system to get the true sequel.
I've also played the Atari ST, PC and Atari 8bit versions. I would recommend the computer versions (ST or PC) the most.
And, yes, Flashback is an awesome game too, mainly because A) you get a gun so early in the game and B) the controls are a little more forgiving.

I've heard that the Sega CD "Heart of the Alien", contains the prequel, "Out of this World" for free. I didn't know that there was a sequel to "Heart of the Alien".
Also was "Heart of the Alien" released on any other consoles?

Sorry for the confusion.
Out of this World is the first game.
Heart of the Alien is the second one (sequel).
But, Heart of the Alien only came out on the Sega CD and it contains both game. I don't believe that there is a direct sequel to Heart of the Alien.

If you consider the Sega CD another version of Out of this World, then I'd definitely go for that version since you have the equally cool Heart of the Alien with it.
If it's just Out of this World you're comparing across systems, I'll stick with my Genny choice.

I really enjoyed the 3DO version of the game. It has the best music and graphics by far on all the consoles. I've never seen the PC version, however.

I really thought that the 3DO version was really, really good, back when I first played it. I really wasn't expecting much from Out of this World, but back when I originally played it, in Early 1994, I was extremely impressed by the 3DO game.
The visuals were stunning, and the audio was also an experience.
I need to get this game.

Atari 8 bit version? Where? I'd like to see this.
