I buy a lot of things from GameStop. They usually have awful prices, but every once in a while I'll find a good price for a game I want. There's one thing I hate other than the terrible prices, which would be the awful condition of the games. I started to collect SNES RPGs, and I bought many from GameStop... which was a big mistake. It's terrible... They have abouit 2 or 3 stickers on the cartridge, one on the front label, one on the back... This obviously lowers the value of the game and all. And I hate it. When I sell my SNES games, I want to get a good amount of money, but unfortunatly I'm not going to because of these freakin stickers. I'm afraid to take them off, because I don't want to labels to rip. I was wondering if anyone had these stupid problems with their GameStops, although I'm pretty sure thay'd all do this. One other thing though, I have bought two games that were "New" and never been opened. Well, one game I buy, Tactics Ogre for GBA, and when I start to play it, there's already a save file... wth? The last thing, I bought another new game, .Hack//Infection. I get it and it turns out the game isn't in the best condition. There are small scratches and fingerprints on it.... @_@ Gamestop is driving me crazy... remind me to go to EB World from now on...

wow that really sucks. The save file thing I don't really find too surprising, but the scratches and fingerprints I do. Did the game not come in plastic?

I actually prefer Gamestop's stickers to EB's. EB has the shittiest stickers on the face of the earth. They always leave that little spot there to remind you, "hey, you bought me used at EB!" Gamestop's stickers are A-OK in my book, at least in comparison with their evil EB counterparts!

Most of the stickers I've had on the games I've bought from Gamestop peel off pretty easily, and none of them have been stuck to the labels. A little GooGone wipes the leftover residue off.

In my experience Gamestop will accept anything that looks like a game cart as a trade in. I've found carts that were;

written on
covered with rental stickers
filthy
missing labels altogether
rattle when you shake them
and in some cases actually missing pieces of the cart itself.

Oh, and they want full price for them in return.

You really just have to accept that if you are interested in reselling the games that you buy for a profit then Gamestop isnt the place to shop at. The only exception that I've found is older boxed games since they charge the same amount for a loose game as they do for a complete game.

If you take a blowdryer you can heat up the label, it will turn black, and it will peel off with no problem! (Be careful)

Three more times. After that, people who start such a conversation will become instantly sterile and pianos will fall on their heads.

I've gotten carts from Gamestop in varying conditions and written on them too. least with GS' stickers they can sometimes come right off. Goo-Off removes marker pretty nicely too.

As a gamestop monkey, just so y'all know, we can't refuse a trade in on a cart for how it looks, only on CDs. Actually you're really not supposed to refuse bad CDs either, but we're anal at my store.

No joke. Yet it always comes up like someone has had a brilliant revelation and is the frist person to discover that they're overpriced/their carts and cds look like crap/they sell used games as new/etc. And the funniest thing is people continue to shop there.

Honestly, if you continue shop there, you get what you deserve.

(Ok, checking this again, I think the topic starter is new here, so don't take this personally. This is just a topic that's been hashed and re-hashed so many times, I can't fathom why people continue to shop there, or if they do, I don't understand why they complain about it. As far as I'm concerned, you get burned once, you have a right to complain, but if you keep going back and keep getting burned, it's your own damn fault.)

In all actuality, you CAN turn away products that are nasty or in otherwise poor cosmetic condition. The buyback price does not account for an employee cleaning the poop off of a game before it is put out for sale. If it looks like crap, turn it away. At our store, people bring in stuff all the time that looks like they defecated on it.

As for CD based stuff, just use the refurbish SKU.

Our old manager (back in the Funco days) used to scoff at the customers who tried to trade in shit-caked/filthy/nasty/destroyed items. He then tossed the item back to the customers and sent them on their way. LOL

That's why he's the FORMER manager. LOL
