if you're on broadband(recommended by me) then you should check out this site. they have entire rom sets for downloading, or you can choose single roms. the only problem is with single roms.....it looks to be a bit more of a hastle. for complete sets you just need bit torrent on your computer and you click the one you want......and wait and wait and wait for it to send. i just started mine and went to bed but i got some bigger sets. and from what it looks like, most of them include all of the roms found by cowering's good tools. so if you're looking for an instant set. i would recommend going here and weeding out what you don't want. they also have a really good set of hacked roms that are alot of fun so far. baby mario bros......balloon mario. just some weird stuff and such a great time killer if you ask me, just for the hacked roms......but here it is. let me know if any of you decide to use it and what you think of it.

I'm new to the whole "bit torrent" thing. Is this like a Kazaa ordeal? I really despise most file sharing programs because of the spyware most of them install, and I really only use Kazaa LITE to get some odd and end files. I looked over what is listed under the complete section, but I pretty much have it all :) I'd like to hear from others that use this method of getting the roms and how it works out however.
EDIT: I checked out the bit torrent site and am giving it a try now. Although I have a complete NES romset, I'm downloading an .ace file via the program to see how it works. Looks like it's coming through, but at a very slow rate. 12 hours for a 259mb file! Oh well, I'll leave it go nonetheless. Even if it takes some time this may be a great way to get ahold of those hard to find files :)

it's just a little program that allows you to accept the files. without it.....you don't get the file, you get a file named that but it's very small and contains nothing. you just download off of somebody linked through their site i would imagine and after you get a small bit it shares with others. once you close the file or click finish. nobody else can upload from you. i don't think there is much to worry about with it but i'm not a programmer so don't quote me. maybe install it and download the atari 2600 roms just to check it out. that download only took me......15 minutes maybe?

Yeah, I downloaded the 2600 set in a few minutes. Good stuff! Works just fine. Glad to see there's another option for the folks who can't use the newsgroups for one reason or another...or those that do use them but missed the complete "floods". Thanks for the link and info!

I really recommend Bit Torrent for getting some things done.
http://suprnova.org is a nice place to download torrents also. Look under Games, then Roms.

Thing about floods is it never takes long for another one to occur. Just watch 'em. :) Anyway, yeah torrents are a nice option.. not too good for looking for rare files though, but for popular stuff (like roms) it can be nice.

I'm actually surprised that some of my romsets were incomplete! :) I was missing about 200 Genesis roms and about 150 SNES roms. The method posted above for downloading made me complete. Thanks again!

glad to hear that!! and i already have enough NES roms thanks to zektor......but when you download that package off of that website, you get all the hacks. and while most of them suck pretty bad. alot of them are a good laugh and fun at the same time. like bud bros. hack for SMB 1......the mushroom turns into a marijuana leaf and the flower for flower power is now a bong......and you shoot bubbles of smoke......"i'm assuming" ;)
