Yes, alot. But the Japanese version is definately worth $1500-1800 depending on how badly people want it.

I got the same game (MVS) for $50. :rocker:

Enjoy it though, as long as you keep it in nice condition, you got some money to make down the road.

I saw a Metal Slug game for the PSX. Is this what you are talking about (same game? is it rare?)?

Nope. Go for the Saturn version if you necessarily want to play it on another console. But I really recommend buying a decent arcade joystick and use MAME instead. Just as good as the original, it is the original, and it cost you only $100 (joystick)

I own the US version of Metal Slug for the Neo Geo CD unit. Just for giggles, you guys with AES and MVS carts should see how far you can get in the game while mine finishes loading. LOL I'm sure somebody here can make it halfway through stage 2 just as my CD begins to load the map screen.

I have the CD system...but I'm too cheap to buy Slug for it :) As for the US Metal Slug AES...it runs about $2500 these days. Most expensive non-LE game I know of!

I never even knew about Neo Geo AES carts until I started reading these boards...

I still can't believe how much some of them go for, let alone the 'cheap' ones.

Congrats on the purchase, man. MS = true classic. I've been stacking up on the lower cost titles since I've got my AES, but I wanna drop some cash on either SvC or Samurai Shodown 0/5.

Funny, I had a discussion with a friend of mine who thinks that its nuts for anyone to pay triple digits for any game..."calls it a waste". Then I pointed out that he buys about 10 games a month which he plays for about a day or two and forgets about. He laughed and said "I guess we all have some kinda nutso gaming habit, huh?"

80,000 yen isn't bad. I've seen it for probably 100,000 in akihabara... and running as high as 150,000 -- not sure if anyone bought it at that price though.

I think that $700 is a little to much for a game that you could play on saturn, but if you sell it you can make double, so thats a plus.

Amen to that!

Last Blade 1 is the best game on the Neo-Geo, period.

Many will disagree with me, but yes, the print run for US home version is extremely small, like 50-100, in 1996, SNK didn't expect the scale of popularity of Metal Slug, almost all of the boards made went to coinop version (MVS carts), even that production run wasn't large to begin with.

When I first heard about the limited run in 1996, I didn't even blink and got the game from Japan Video Game for $270. The rest of my Metal Slug collection are JP version and I still have US MS1 simply because it's hard to find another copy (JP version) in this condition w/o paying arm and legs.

I guess u mean "Limited edition" with "LE",don't ya?
however.... u r not right.
The europaen AES version of "Kizuna Encounter" goes for € 5000.- minimum
the holy grail for neogeo-collectors

Unfortunately not....yet. I don't have it in my hand yet (a week or so) and I really don't want to say hey before it's safe here. Never failed with EMS shipping before though.

Well, that is an excellent deal kattkatt. I do have Metal Slug AES, but its a conversion :( ....Only way I'd ever be able to have it. I just got Shock Troopers and have been playing it the past couple days...I didn't think it was going to be this good, but Shock Troopers holds up quite well to Metal Slug...I don't think one is better than the other, both are extremely top notch action shooting games.
