I would get an N-gage in a heartbeat.....if I didn't have to pay for it that is. ;)

The first sales figures are out in the UK:

Only 500 units were sold at gaming outlets. That is pretty bad.

Oh jeez, that's pretty bad. No wait, good. ?

500 units were sold in the nation's 6000 game outlets. Can you say "overstock inventory" ?

By way of comparison, Nintendo's Game Boy Advance hardware outsold the N-Gage by a ratio of almost 30:1 last week, despite the fact that no key titles launched on the GBA over the course of the week, and that the system is long overdue a price cut.

Wait a sec...you have to have the thing sticking out the side of your head to use it as a phone????

OK, this is even dumber than I thought. I'm not even getting into the other features, just as a phone, that's terrible design.

Hmm I went to my local Babbage's, and saw their nice little (well, huge, actually) N-Gage kiosk. The game unit and its screen don't look that bad in person, actually, but I wasn't able to do anything with it as it as the left unit had a little grayscale pattern (like you see next to a volume knob) going on and I didn't want to touch it, and the other one had some sort of vortex pattern in the middle. The keys are a bit bigger than I had feared and I could probably use them. Thankfully each key is as wide as possible on the keypad so you aren't pushing on a tiny little spot.

That said, the screen was tiny.

I asked the lady at the counter if she was at liberty to tell me how many they'd sold...it turns out they haven't sold a single one as of last night. Ow.

I couldn't figure it out last time I was in EB. And if I work there I gotta pawn this crap?! @_@

This is quite amusing. I have no doubt now that these things will end up as free giveaways for those who sign up for new cell phone plans.

One of the local Game Stops in Lansing have only sold one. I know this because when I was in there today, the girl behind the counter was talking to an AT&T wireless guy & the cops. Somebody stole their demo phone & was trying to activate it just down the street. She said that they had only sold one, and it definitely wasn't to the guys in the AT&T shop. That plus the fact that the demo phones say 'dummy' by the simcard.

I really want to get one once they hit the clearance bin, but I fear that they have too many features for that to happen. If they had dropped the MP3 support, I would think they would be discounted a lot sooner.

Whoa, I knew there wasn't anything to do in Lansing, but...stealing (or even worse, BUYING) a N-Gage? Oh how sad.

I was in Lansing a few years ago, eh. Nice state capitol, beautiful interior indeed. The town sucks, though.

N-gage isn't really a bad system, since i've toyed with it. But it really isn't worth 300 bucks. If it had come out to like 100 or 150, I'd say it'd be worth it. It has decent 3d, a good screen for puzzlers and rpgs, and vertical shmups. Buttons are kinda crap, but people like the 5200's, so thats no excuse. Cart slot's positioning was kinda lame, to be sure, but at least you don't have to worry about losing the cart, being tucked away where it is.

Not the best of systems, but it isn't the worst *coughr-zonecough*
