Ok I know i'm not the only one this has happened to -just looking for the proper way to proceed. So...Somehow word of your retrogaming/collecting sickness leaks out to your friends during casual conversation. Suddenly one of them chimes in "You know i'm pretty sure my sister's, husband's, brother's, mother's uncle has an old "system x" and "xyz droolable games" sitting up in their attic." "You could probably have it." My question is what is the best way to get ahold of the goods without totally annoying/losing your friends. Obviously I expressed immediate interest, yet three weeks later--still no transaction. I am currently involved in two similar situations involving a potential Atari 2600/various games and potential Xbox/Gamecube free systems @_@

Be all like "Hey, you give me your games for free or I WILL KICK YOU IN THE NUTS!"

Oh, politely? I have no idea.

I agree...nut kicking almost always works.

I've had someone do this to me too for an Odyssey 2 system, but I don't want to sound like an ass and keep asking for it.

Just call them and say:

"Hello?"

"I am Sancho!"

"What? Who is this?"

"This is Sancho!"

"What do you want?"

"But... I am Sancho!"

"Ok Sancho, bye."

"GIVE ME ALL YOUR VIDEOGAMES BEFORE I DESTROY YOUR GENITALIA IN A GLORIOUS OUTBURST OF FURIOUS ANGER"

*click*

Then the next time you see them they'll tell you the strangest thing happened in regards to the video games... *bam* conversation started about the games, and you're set.

If you've seen these friends within the last week and were unable to casually work your secret shame (videogames) into the conversation (then casually leading into "by the way..."), then it may be time to turn in your membership card.

And if you haven't seen or talked to your friends lately, then you gotta keep in touch more better good. What kind of friend are you, anyway?!?

Run up to them in the night with your white Shinobi getup on and yell something like "I AM SHINOBI! GIVE ME YOUR STUFF OR DIE!" and they should comply. If they don't just chop off their left arm with your sword.

No, I actually still feel guilty that I got a really nice free Mac Classic ][ (with more RAM in it than old-computers.com says you can have!) along with nice dust covers and a printer. All that was wrong is the internal battery's dead and the mouse was missing the internal ball! I'm not ever going to sell it, but getting stuff for free from teachers feels really lousy since you know they paid a lot of money back when and they don't make much now, either.
