Best excuse I've seen yet for delaying a release. Well, it still sucks, though. This hopefully gives Valve more time to work on the game, though.

Heard about this on PA a few days ago. I guess the thieves snuck akeystroke virus into the Valve puters and stole all the directories and assorted files as well. Ended up making off with most of the source code, which means that by the time the game is released, it'll already be hacked to hell and back. On the other hand, I didn't expect to see HL2 before Feb or March anyway, now I'd expect mid-next year.

The code isn't all they stole.. there's a playable demo floating around Bit Torrent.. bet it has all kinds of viruses tacked on.

Well, either way, I'll still buy the full registered version when it's released.

My impression of any given Valve stockholder:

AIEEEEEE!

*BLAM*

But on the positive side, this could be the first instance where a total conversion mod gets a public release before the game it actually mods.

What's a Valve stockholder? It's a privately held company.

Then I guess that applies to the owner instead. At least the mess will be smaller that way.

What's this guys problem with Vavle anwyay? First he illegialy hacks into a computer network to rip private code, which alone is punishable by jail time and fines, and NOW he says he's going to release the full game, ruin Valve as a company, and bring serious conquences on the release of all later PC games and gamers in general for YEARS to come?

Everyone here knows I very hardly swear.

Well, forgive me for saying this......

What the FUCK is this guy's PROBLEM? Give me a gun so I can SHOOT the bastard myself!

I hope they catch this guy and fine him so heavily he'll be sleeping in an alley for the rest of his life.

...or put him in jail with one of those "ass bandits" for a cell mate.

aah, that's what I like to see - a sensible considered response, advocating a punishment of anal rape. Yeah, that's just great.

Who cares anyway the game was going to be delayed either way. It mostly revolves around Steam their new distribution software. I mean they could have developed a demo at the very least to tide people over. Like it or not people are super hyped about this game and will play it any way they can.

Well, at least it's a response. What's yours???

Personally, I think it's funnier than hell. Just goes to show what PC folks due, steal software (at least most of them - all my PC friends do)!

when I first heard about this I was fairly indifferent, and thought it was sort of funny, you know nothing on PC's are safe nowadays blablabla... but this is really bad. Even though I mostly play consoles I do like to pick up the choice PC title from time to time, so now I'm assuming they're going to have to scrap basically the entire game mechanics to seperate them from the leaked version or something similar? yeah, this sucks. definately going to affect the way security with these sorts of things is handled as well I'd imagine
