Well.. it seems like the DOA Volleyball success is still having an effect on games being made. The D3 publisher is coming out with Love Smash 5 for the Japanese PS2 next month... and my good does it look bad...

Here's a video:
http://www.d3p.co.jp/asx/lsmash5_sp.asx

Is this the future of videogames? I'd be pretty embarrassed to say that I play videogames if this is all there is to it. I know that this junk is pretty common in Japan, but it seems like there's a reciprocal effect going on. This isn't an adult game, but targetted for a mainstream audience. Comments?

I can't believe how blatant they are in this game...

That power-up (panty) shot - Is hilarious...
I also think that they may have taken the Jello effect a little too far in this game too.

What gets me is how they try and make the game look serious, like those action sequences and yes... the bullet time. What a joke. LOL

So, it's just tennis with almost Zero gravity breasts....lame.

But then again, this is from the same country that will buy Mahjhong game after Mahjhong game just for the nudity.

<shrug> where am I supposed to be shocked? That looks like a pretty average game to me... VERY LOW KEY for japan really...

Not only the characters, but the stages as well are near exact ripoffs of DOA. The announcer may sound pumped but this HAS to be a gag game. It's so ripoff it's funny.

Oh......I really LIKE those Motion products! :D

Now why can't they release stuff like that in the States? Sure, I know, we probaly have easier access to porn then the Japanese do, but I think that stuff would STILL sell like hotcakes. :P

You can find porn everywhere in Japan, and in places you'd never find it in the States. I used to walk past a vending machine that sold both porn and used panties. Who can resist that???

Edit: Oh yeah, bring on the tennis babes. T&A games will never die.

you guys realize that you could just get the real thing on the internet for free instead of paying fifty or sixty dollars for a "game" that is basically cencored

Whatever gave you the idea that my wife doesn't like porn? Just goes to show how little you know about me. 8-)

PS I bought one of the "motion gravure" series (the one with five girls instead of just one) :-P and the boxing game that looks like it's from the people who did the tennis game that this very thread was initiated.

Will try them out today. With the wife present.

I have that boxing game and it's not bad. Just think Dead Or Alive movements, but bigger breasts and more bounce. It is made by the same company and I have several of the Simple series games and for $20 they're not too bad.

What did you think of the motion "game"? Here is a quick little vid for those who might be interested.

I will say... mmm mmm good, Megumi!! O_O

Here is a translated quote:

Motion photogravure series
The digital photograph collection only for PlayStation2 in which the data equivalent to no less than 1000 photograph collections was mentioned. It is possible to operate it by the controller, to see from a 色ん&#12394(couldn't translate the words); angle or to carry out zoom. The quality of a photograph is the quality of image more than Hi-Vision. The "DEJABU point function" in which the treasure photograph is further hidden into the photograph, and the "digital dog year function" which collects only the scenes which he wants to see and can try to repeat only the scene are carried. The Sony printer is connected and print-out is also possible.

I think that's "dog ear" not "dog year"

I thought it could have been better. The technology is interesting and I wonder why they didn't try to carry it out to the logical conclusion (360-degree camera on x, y and z axis) instead of limit you to a 90-degree swivel of area. No problem with the visuals, the girls are gorgeous, but the interface could have had more interaction. A true virtual cameraman game would be something special.

Now the boxing game... that's a lot of fun!

Boobs + tennis+ matrix + adventure (?) + stupidty = Love SMash 5, and were there really four other Love SMashes?

This is something that I say a lot because it's true: Foreign perversity knows no limits. @_@

Hopefully, not every game company in the future won't go by the philosophy that breasts are what make video games. I don't mind them at all if the game has a greater focus on the gameplay and not on the snacktrays... *coughMaicough* ;)

This game ain't selling well in America. It's just a hunch I have.

Honestly, Love Smash 5 was not only very tame by Jp standards, but looked funny as hell. I'd buy that just for the sheer comedic value.

I think its funny how Americans see this game and go, "Oh man, that must be good for people that really want to see porn because they can't!"

If you travel outside of the US, it seems that every other country in the world is okay with porn, and lots of it. I remember seeing magazines in Norway when I was young that would have full frontal nudity on them and would be on the lower shelfs for anyone to look at, even little me ( 8-) ).

I went to Europe last year and in France saw advetrisements for cologne on billboards of full frontal nudity. There were images of people having sex on a bus ad, and I wanted to watch a movie in French (I wanted to go see Ice Age in French to see how it was different, but did not have money) so I turned on the TV in my room at about 7:00pm and found what I thought was a regular-old movie. Pretty soon, I realized it was no ordinary movie, but a pretty darn hardcore porn. Again, on at 7:00 on a public TV channel.

Oddly enough, those countries have lower sexual crime rates too...

Anyway, about the game -- it looked funny. The nudity or close-to-it parts were nice to look at, but nothing more. I don't know... I think the gaming world would be better off if we didn't protect nudity so much and toned down the violence a little.

How many movies have we gone to where a sex scene has really added to the story? Why has this never really been used in a mainstream video game beyond the wink-wink, nudge-nudge implication is beyond me. I think it could be a huge growth for the industry, and if done tastefully (something the industry does NOT do with violence) could make video games into a much more legit form of entertainment like music or movies currently are.

@Sotenga: "Foreign perversity knows no limits?" "Perversity?" Gimme a break. Some bouncing boobs aren't perverse. For heavens sake, you see more boobs on a regular Letterman show when a lil actress shows a LOT except nipples talking about the latest meaningless event what happened on the "set."

1. Some flesh, even frontal nudity isn't porn. If you see something hard penetrating something else, THAT'S porn (decision by the Supreme Court).

2. ...therfore, these games aren't even "soft" porn. Even one naked woman doesn't make it porn, not to mention a topless woman, not to mention a girl in a bikini or a guy in a thong.

3. Nobody claimed that this is a good game (it might be, I don't know), certainly bouncing boobs don't make a good game. I'm tempted to write, 'If bouncing boobs offer good gameplay, then it's a good game', but I won't.

I agree with goatdan. Foreign countries aren't so uptight with nudity than the US. I'm German, and you can find in regular magazines frontal nudity of women and men. After midnight on regular cable channels bigbreasted, topless women on couches advertise for sex hotlines in Germany.

When it comes to sex and alcohol in America, I still don't quite understand the overly concerned public attitude towards those "terrible" things. :) I know about the historical heritage which explains it, but on a feeling level I still don't get it.

...and here I say it: sex is one of the few enjoyable things in life, like good food and a good thought. Relax, sit back, enjoy, and don't take it too seriously.

I'd be pretty embarrassed to say that I play videogames if this is all there is to it

Don't feel embarrassed to play videogames in general because of ONE product. Don't throw all videogames in one pot. I'm not embarrassed to say that I read books because one right-wing nut writes a book about the Holocaust. I'm not embarrassed to say that I watch TV because of the Jerry Springer show.

Videogames are a medium, nothing else, like movies, books, TV, dramas, paintings, etc. which all offer a variety of themes and a variety of ways to taggle the same topic. I can read and buy Ezra Pound novels which deal with love AND sex or a shallow erotic, semi-porn novel. They are both books.

Videogames will pick up more and more topics and problems of society the more they become an accepted independent form of art and entertainment and will present them in different ways....and , yes, relationships, sex, crime, are parts of our society. How far they can go and in which way they present these topics will be decided by acceptance levels of society in different countries which in turn determines how well these products sell.

The more successful videogames become, the more they won't be child's play only; and this will be reflected in the themes offered.
