That pretty much sums it up. My contact has one of these and he's gonna sell it for $500...ouch! As you can see, it's old, it's Japanese, and it's Coca-Cola branded. Hehe.
Enjoy Pong!

Yeah, good luck with $500. These aren't worth more than $200. I've seen them sell before for $150.

I read a story in a magazine, possibly Popular Mechanics, about Coca-Cola's plans to build a small LCD game inside their vending machines. You buy a soda from the machine, and you get a free credit for the game, a simple catch the bottles affair similar to your average Nintendo Game + Watch.
Did Coke ever actually do this, or did the crash of 1984 make them change their minds about the idea?

I remember they had the talking vending machine. I think it had a digitized screen that looked like it was talking to you but I can't remember one that had a game.

the coke game is real i've seen them on ebay and found references to the researching handhelds. cant say i ever saw one in person though, seems like it might slow down sales traffic as much as build business.
speaking of funky pongs, it has now be determined that there were at least two companies putting out different wooden pongs. i'm going back and forth on this again, pongs are boring to play and bulky to collect but they do look cool...hmm, still have about 10 of em in the cellar.
