As most of you know, I am in the middle of getting a complete SNES set together. To assist me I use ebay, this site and other sources (which include half.com) I just bought a few games from one seller and was less than pleased with the condition they arrived in. I told the seller of my unhappiness and the fact that I had paid almost $8 to ship 4 games that cost them $1.84, this is where it gets interesting.

When you buy video games through half.com the shipping rates are fixed for media mail or first class, I chose media mail, which is no problem. The rates they charge are $2.49 for the first item and $1.49 for each additional item that is bought from the same seller (via media mail). 4 games bought = $7.96, right??. The seller replied to me saying the following:

I am very sorry that you were disappointed in the condition of the games and the shipping.

One thing I am confused about is you saying you spent over $8 in shipping, when I have that you paid $3.48

The seller enclosed an attatchment with what half.com gave her for the items and shipping check this out (edited for substance only):

Chuck Rock Sony Imagesoft Inc. (Super Nintendo)

Cost of item: $5.00
Shipping: $1.89 (I paid $2.49 ! :eek 2: )
Half.com commission: ($0.75)
Total: $6.14

Barbie Super Model Hi Tech Expressions (Super Nintendo)

Cost of item: $9.00
Shipping: $0.65 (I paid $1.49  )
Half.com commission: ($1.35)
Total: $8.30

Radical Rex Activision Inc. (Super Nintendo)

Cost of item: $7.00
Shipping: $0.65 (I paid $1.49  )
Half.com commission: ($1.05)
Total: $6.60

Rocko's Modern Life: Spunky's Dangerous Day Viacom New Media (Super Nintendo)

Cost of item: $5.00
Shipping: $0.65 (I paid $1.49 :eek 2: )
Half.com commission: ($.75)
Total: $4.90

I can understand half.com charging a commission, they are providing the forum for the transaction (even though over a 10 percent charge is pretty extreme), but to shave off the top of shipping charges as well and pocket that as well is total BS! I for one will never sell on half.com after seeing this! What are your thoughts everyone?

Ah yes, the defining moment of when a person (male) can officially be called a collector is when a Barbie game enters into your collection and it's not for your kids.

Also, that half.com gouging is ridiculous. I like how you coordinated the smilies to the level of their ripoff.

I started another thread with this a few weeks ago, but here it is FYI:

Thanks for the interest!

@1bigmig: If you add up what they gouge you for, half.com almost takes 20 percent of your sales! Total BS as far as I am concerned!
