I'm buying some SNES games off a friend ($5 or less per cart (cart only)):
* = Going to get
x = Most likely not

* Killer Instinct
* Mortal Kombat 3
x Rise of the Robots
* Whizz
x Super Battleship
x Super Play Action Football
* Brett Hull Hockey
* International Tennis Tour
* NBA Hangtime
* The Legend of Zelda
* Donkey Kong Country
* Donkey Kong Country 2
x Starfox (already have a copy, but is it worth getting a second?)
* Super Mario All-stars (I've already got one copy of it.)
* Wings 2: Aces High
* Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Crossroads of Time
* Megaman X
* U.N. Squadron
* Wolfenstein 3D

So, any suggestions? Should I get another copy of Super Mario All-stars and/or Starfox? Any opinions would be great. :)

Thanks, but I have seen that list many times... and I'd say there are way more than 50 games worth noting. That list doesn't even mention NBA Jam, which is one of IGN's top 100 games of all time, I think it was 50 something... I'm just looking for personal opinions on games like Whizz, Rise of the Robots, and Super Battleship, which were not on the top 50 list, for reasons I may not know. And I'm not sure if I should snag an extra cart of Starfox and/or Super Mario All-stars.

OK just trying to be helpful!

STAY AWAY from Play Action Football and for God's sake Rise of the Robots. I can't speak to the others, I haven't really played Whizz or Super Battleship, someone else can take those for you.

NBA Jam *is* great but not a top 50, and on Super NES it wouldn't even make my personal top 100 but that's probably because the game appears on pretty much every system of the era. A "best of" list should prioritize system exclusives, as ours typically do.

Have fun.

I'll take that extra Super Mario Allstars... PM me if interested in a trade (I have other SNES games FT)...

Wow, thanks! At first Rise of the Robots was cool looking (in terms of graphics), but as soon as the robots started jumping around, the game was so retarded... So, Rise of the Robots is a definite NO, and Super Play Action Football was one of the system's bottom games according to several people. Thanks for the help. Any opinions on Super MArio All-stars and Starfox?

Oops, sorry to double post, but I hadn't noticed Querjek's post until I was done writing mine... Since you're so keen on getting it, it must be a sign that I should get it for myself. So I think I'll snag it! :)

You should definitely get Super Mario All Stars..its not really rare but its good trade bait.

Also grab:
-NBA Hangtime ..I like it better than Jam, better graphics, probably has a '97 roster as opposed to Jam's '93/'94 roster. Also Hangtime has a make-your-own-character mode....ups the replay value even more, on a game genre that didn't even need the boost :)

-UN Squadron is an awesome shooter, but barely worth $5 because its so common. $5 isn't TOO much though, but I wouldn't pay more.
-Zelda
-Donkey Kong country of course...get both games.
-Megaman X
-Wings 2? never seen this one, but if its like Wings, then it can't be all that bad. WWI dogfighting is fun.

Yeah, but you can do the same with the Jaguar and PSX versions. That's me point, ya see.

Definitely Zelda, MMX and UN Squadron, and maybe Wings 2. I always wanted to try that one out, but never got the chance to.

Get Whizz also. It is fairly fun, but will most likely be a litte hard to find in the coming years. Just saying with expierience, because its a little hard to track down.

I'll let you know based on my game expierence:
- Killer Instinct is the bomb, get this game for sure. The combo system for this game was very well crafted. The graphics are beaurtifully rendered, and the game incorporates a nice level of gore that seems to spice it up a bit. It is my favorite fighter on the SNES, and thats coming from a man who collects SNES games.
* Mortal Kombat 3 only worth it if you are into 2D fighters, otherwise you will loose interest fairly quikly. This game was a let-down concerning its predecesor, MKII.
- Rise of the Robots is hella crappy.
- Whizz I would only get for collecting purposes, but not for gaming purposes. It is 'kinda' rare, but the game play is strictly average.
- Super Battleship is a little dated. I wouldnt get it.
- Super Play Action Football sucks. Straight up.
- The Legend of Zelda is THE BOMB. period.
- Donkey Kong Country is a good game expierence.
- Donkey Kong Country 2 is also worthy of getting.
- Wings 2: Aces High sucks major balls. Stay far away from this title.
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is a stinker.
- Megaman X is an excellent game, and is in my personal top 20. I would highly reccommend it.
- U.N. Squadron is an excellent shooter, and with the name 'capcom' on the front, you know its good.
- Wolfenstein 3D was a poor super nintendo translation. Half the time you cannot even tell where you are going. Get this on the PC, 3DO, or the Atari Jaguar, but leave the SNES version alone.
I can't speak for the other titles, but I can say that sports games don't age very well. Kepp that in mind when purchasing the your games.
Hope this helped.

Yoshi's Island is a great title.

I don't care what anybody says -- Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 look awful now, and they aren't terribly playable either. MK 2 edges out SF2 easily in the graphics department, though, and it's got enough cool stuff that you won't regret buying it if you can stand looking at the game.

True... but I like the SNES pads. I hate Jaguar and PSX pads ;)

Thanks for the great opinions! But, has anyone ever played Brett Hull Hockey? If I recall, it wasn't the best game... And is that extra Starfox worth it?

Okay, sure! Now all I need to know is about Starfox, should I get another copy, even though its very common?

Unless that starfox says super weekend I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you are wanting a second copy of it.

I wish... :) Its just a plain ol' Starfox, nothing special... Except that its a good game... But, I think I'll leave it with my firend, unless he sells me his entire collection for a decent price. If so, then I'll have no choice but to take it. :D
