Yesterday, I just had the urge to play Super Metroid again, now I'm kinda stuck. I'm at the part where you fall through the floor in front of an energy tank. I go all the way to the right, and find these green munchkin things that try to show me how to climb a wall by jumping back and forth.
Is there a simple way you can explain this to me? I've tried just about everything.
BTW I can easily jump over the hole, but is there something neccessary in there that I will need? I'm assuming it is the grapple.
Thanks,

The wall jump? It takes practice. You have to do the kind of jump where you frontflip, then when you start hugging the wall, hit the opposite direction on the d-pad and the jump button again.
That's the simplest explanation I could think of...

Actually it'd be a bit easier if you tap the controller instead of pushing it. Then press the Jump button and as soon as Samus starts jumping up, press the controller toward the opposite wall.

I always was stuck on the part where you have to run through the rooms where the stuff hurts you. i hated that part.

Thanks guys I finally figured it out, but PLEASE tell me that I didn't just waste an hour and a half just to get a couple of power bombs. Did I miss something?

There's a tank, if not 2 down there if I recall...

I think you get a little extra scene at the ending or something....I seem to remember something about "saving the animals". Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

That's at the very end when the timer is counting down, you can bomb them free from a little room and then you see a TINY star thingy shoot from the planet as it explodes, thus saving the animals.

Ssving the animals doesn't add anything to your final score but if you don't screw up on the way out you would have lots of time to spare. The animals are trapped (IIRC) in the same area where you pick up the bomb.
Metroid Database would be a good place to look for maps and hints for any Metroid games; http://www.classicgaming.com/mdb/
