ok, i wake up today.......check my email i and i get a question from an intertested bidder......and it reads:

Springmarky,

Would you be willing to sell your item for $25 dollars + shipping charges. I will pay you right away. My 5 year old son is paying with his own money. Please let us know, thank you.

ok.........and the auction is.........

anybody ever get one of these? sounds like something just to get a seller to say yes......and well nobody else has bought it for $30 and it seems as if i better just take it and run since that was my original asking price....... :hmm:

It probably is a scam, but it's not a bad price for either party. Id either take it now or just tell him you'll wait until the auction is over and if it doesnt sell that you'll do it then.

I would just tell him to wait for the auction to end. Say your loyal to ebay, if the auction ends, with no bidders then you will take the offer. That is what I would do.

Between my work and personal ebay accounts I have received at least a couple hundred of these requests. Usually it is because the item is something really good and they think you don't know what you have. I have only made a deal like this once because it was an item I had bought on ebay for $15 a few months before and they offered $50. I wouldn't do it unless you are sure it is not worth more.

Do it, be nice. You could make some kids day. :)
And if the person is lying , well they'll get it in the end.

I looked at the auction again and saw that a sealed new game was also included, so I think the 30$ is a fair price also. $25 with shipping may be closer to what it's worth (?).

i told them i would let it ride. if these parents thought their kid really needed it they would help him with the other $5.......if a 5 year old has $25 i think the parents should have $5 laying around. so i told her to wait until the end of the auction and i would gladly accept the offer. thanks guys!!!

I've had the exact sort of email regarding a video I was selling. I told him the same thing you did.

This is probably the only time I've bent the rules on eBay, but I was selling a VC3 (small box that defeats Macrovision copy protection) on eBay. I had a starting bid of .99, and had one bid. Then, with like 4 days left, I got an e-mail from a guy who said he was desperate for one, needed it for work, and would pay me $25 + 5 shipping for priority. I scanned eBay and couldn't find one that sold for more than $10. So I ended up telling the guy if he PayPal'ed me the money, I'd do cancel the auction. He sent the money a few mins later, I boxed it up, and mailed it off. The only bad part was I had to e-mail the guy who had bid (I didn't have to, but felt I should) and told him that I just tested the device and it didn't work, so I didn't want to sell it non-working.

So, uh, if that was you, sorry. ;)

BUT, in your case, I'd probably make him wait the 2 days. There's always a chance he could find another one, but then again there's a chance you could get a bid and make more money.

I always make the person get the highest bid before I cancel the auction to sell it to them. That way I don't have to e-mail anyone and lie. :D

i received a follow up email from the interested party and they thought i was a true angel for my honesty and for letting things stand as fair with letting it ride..........and said they would be more than glad to buy it if i email them after the auction. but these things usually sell for $40 on ebay. granted i don't have the corresponding controller but $40 is the low end.......i should have thrown in hey you pikachu.......but i think it will be collectable some day so i kept it. and i figured pricing that at $30 would help it sell. view past auctions on ebay, most don't sell under $30......NIB sell for $60. but.......pft.......i just want the $30, that way after all my listing fees, ending fees, and paypal fees i can get the $20 + tax that i paid for it since so many people on the boards showed interest in having one......then once i got it nobody wanted one anymore LOL

o well, i'll hope somebody sees it over the weekend, if not......it's gone for $25. thanks for all the replies everybody

also.......anybody notice the pikachu advance......what a god damn ripoff......do they have a surplus of original GBA guts and they want a good way to get rid of them. the original GBA in a pikachu case......stupid. everybody wants an SP so they release it in the orginal form. i would weigh heavy on my theory.

also.....again LOL i'm going to an auction tomorrow so everybody wish me luck!!! if i find good stuff it'll be on here because i have a ton of stuff i want, and maybe i can get it all paid for!!!

Done typing. :D
