I got a game gear today and it doesn't seem to be working. When I used the ac adapter with and without batteries in the system i only got a blue screen and i tested all 3 of the games that came with it but when i tried without the ac adapter i didn't even get a blue screen. The system rattled when i decided to shake it. Any way i can fix this?

First off clean the carts, and try to clean the cart slot. A moistened (50/50 isopropanol and distilled water) toothbrush, and then maybe a credit card and paper towel to dry it with, may help.
Failing that, you will need a 4.5mm gamebit to get into the unit at all. The only gamebit screw on the unit is by the cart slot.
Good Luck. I daresay a blue screen is better than nothing at all, and a good sign.

It still doesn't work. Do you want it?

Unless it has a glass lens, no. I have a pile of busted GG's (about 6). One has a cracked glass lens. I'd like to get one with a non broken glass lens.
The glass lens ones are heavier and flatter. If it's glass, pm me!
Thanks for the offer!

Say, I have an early GG with the flat lens (I bought it 2 weeks after the GG launch). On the earlier models, the screen was broken up into 3 distinct areas of brighness, vertical 3rds. You've probably seen it. It seemed to get worse with age.
So now, years and years later the center 3rd is nothing but garbage when you plug a game in. Except:
-SMS games played through the master gear converter look fine
-TV tuner looks fine
Only plain old game gear games are filled with garbage. Random, strange noisy garbage.
Anybody know what causes the brightness differences, and why the center 3rd is all garbage now?

youve probably have an issue with the 7V line.. i recently repaired a gg with the same syndrome.. it had some sort of weird pcb layer short (neverfound the actual error) so i did cut a piece of the PCB and wired the Diod to supply direct 7v to the Mainboard connector. and it works great now =)

Stramgely enough, I have 2 Game Gears that have similar problems. One side (sometimes the left 3rd, sometimes the right) will show the game that I'm playing, the next 3rd will show nothing but white, and the final 3rd shows in bright blue.
Anyone know how to fix them?

It turns out that after getting another game gear that the games and the game gear that I had both do not work after testing them with good game on bad game gear and bad games on good game gear.
Anybody want it for $10 (comes with adapter and case)
