I recently bought a Mad Catz RF Adapter to hook my PS2 into a TV that I doesn't have AV ports. When I tuen the PS2 on I get normal video but only static for sound. The only switch that I can see on the adapter is a channel select switch. Am I doing something wrong? I can't imagine I got a bad adapter.

I wouldn't doubt if you did get a bad RF adaptor...the mad catz and other cheap RF units are produced for a little over the cost of two dollars, no joke. I'd get an exchange, if the next one doesn't work, skip the RF unit and get an A/V modulator

Honestly, and I'm not trying to hate here...get a better TV. Composite is nice but I'd go for S-video if possible. In games where fine details matter (Ikaruga) I can't play with anything less than S-Video (the text can't even be read with composite cables due to blurring). You can get a good brand 32" tv nowadays with some good inputs for less than 400. Of course if you MUST have an RF adapter, go for the official Sony ones, preferably used from the bin at Gamestop/EB.

I can't imagine a 27" with SVHS and composite cable inputs could run you more than $100-$150 if you looks around. Hell, go to wal-mart or sears and get a floor model if nothing else :)
