Think back to ALL the video games you ever played....easy right? :P

Anyway, what ONE boss simply infuriates you for it's cheapness? This boss may employ and display horrific AI, but the key here is that it be harder than hell because of some cheap tactic that's there's no way to avoid. My Pick?

Kintaro: MKII

Maybe not the best pick, but it's a great example. That 4-armed (^%^$(* has taken me down more times that I can remember (or care to remember). He's stronger, you can't hit him as hard as he can hit you, he dissapears and stomps you body into the dirt, and that damned fireball is impossible to avoid. Your pick?

RECENTLY, DragonballZ Budokai, Freiza and Cell kicked the crap out of me MANY times. I'm talking at least 30-40 times each before I lucked out and beat them.

Overall, soo many cheap bosses, where to start? :) Usually if a game has a cheap AI/Boss like that I tend to forget it fairly quickly after I beat it...

The most recent cheap boss battle for me would be the final boss battle in Final Fantasy 10.

***SPOILERS****

What a bunch of BS, they give you Auto-Life throughout the entire battle, you CANNOT lose it, this infureated me, I thought, after playing 35+ hours, I would get a decent challenge at the end, but nope, instead I got a subpar battle which was very unfair to the player.

I guess I'd have to say the Cyberdemon from Doom for the SNES... no, I've never gotten to him in it, its just a guess because that whole game is set on the HIGHEST difficulty level with NO way to turn it down and NO way to go to different episodes! sure a year or two later when I got the PC version I got to do all that, but sheesh!

That spider boss in Devil May Cry thus far.

You want cheap? SNK is there for you.

Geese Howard from the original Fatal Fury
Goenitz from King of Fighters '96
Orochi from King of Fighters '97
Omega Rugal from KoF '98 "Genocide....CUTTAH!!!!"
Mizuki from Samurai Shodown 2

On the Capcom side of things, Valgas from Power Stone was unbelievably cheap. Probably the most frustrating boss I've fought, including the ones above.

The bosses from Albert Odyssey. Especially the 4 tower bosses at the end. Holy gods....2.5 hours PER boss! So irritating!

I just got fustrated recently with the Wood Golem from Popful Mail. Razor-thin margins for movement, and once you do beat him once, his freakin' head bounces around AND THEN YOU HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 3 was obnoxious beyond belief. I think I used SIXTY credits trying to beat that game, due in large part to that cheap bastard. I hate how he'd use his six overpowered moves to beat the hell out of you, often backing you in a corner and wailing away with a giant hammer that did obscene chip damage when you blocked it. I also hated how he would constantly laugh at you, smugly announcing "Don't make me laugh" in his best Dark Helmet imitation whenever he struck you down. After hearing that fifty times in a row, I was about ready to shatter the damned cartridge with a hammer of my own.
Motaro was also a son of a bitch, especially in Mortal Kombat Trilogy, where all your projectile attacks would bounce off his chest and return to you. He didn't even need to counter them... you could have thrown an ice ball at him while he was jumping and it'd still come right back at you. Who the hell thought that would make the game more entertaining? Your only two options when fighting the asshole were 1) Use Shiva and stomp him repeatedly or 2) Jump kick repeatedly and hope he never grabs you. Whee, fun.

Yashiro mentioned Valgas from Power Stone, and he's a pretty tough boss, but the WORST time you'll have fighting him is when you're trying to beat the game with every character. Try beating Valgas with the extremely slow Gunrock, talk about a controller-throwing fit....

the last boss in splatterhouse 2.

Luca Blight in Suikoden II. Good GOD what a pain in the ass. The fact that you have to organize three parties of six characters each before you can even fight him should give you a clue. And ths about halfway into the game!

One swipe, wipe out a row. Swipe two, wipe out a column. Swipe three, bye-bye party.

Thank God for the Gameshark. ;)

The final boss in Ninja Gaiden for NES. If you've seen it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you haven't, I won't scar you with a description. That is the only game I can think of that met its end by way of a hammer.

Make that likely all the final 3 bosses from the NG trilogy.

the last boss in splatterhouse 2.

Actually, once you've got his pattern down he's pretty damned easy.

I'm trying to think of some of the cheapest bosses I've come across, but none are coming to my mind - yet I know I've fought several of them.

Omega Rugal from KoF '98 "Genocide....CUTTAH!!!!"

Y'know, this is the only KoF boss I beat in the arcades, with my first character no less.

Here's my tip, Play as King. O.Rugal loves his huge electro-ball things. Block often to help cut down on G-Cutter damage, low slide under his projectiles, Trap Shot. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Nightmare 3 from Devil May Cry is the only one that comes to mind. Most RPG's I haven't had any problem with (been stuck of course, but leveling up a bit always solves the problem) so nothing there comes to mind... although I STILL haven't beat the last mission of Vice City... holy crap. More out of it being annoyingly long rather than difficult.

I was going to post NG1 and NG2's bosses also. Apparently, Im not the only one with some angst towards them.

SF Alpha 3 M. Bison. He always starts off with a full super meter, X-ism, and pull a Psycho Charge that fills the screen and takes off 75% of you life bar. Just when you are kicking his ass, he pulls the super, whch takes him a split second to do, and oblitorates you.

He isn't so bad with some of the faster characters, but beating him with Zangeif ain't easy.

DEFINATELY the Spider boss on the MS-DOS game Stellar 7. It slowly moves toward you and constantly launches small spiders that move as fast as you do. Also, it constantly spreads black goo that if you step on you get stuck there until the big spider comes and kills you. :bad-words: :bad-words:

I had the most trouble with the first encounter with Atma Weapon in FFIII. x_x I must have got the crap kicked out of me about 50 times before I managed to win.

Is that the one where Sonny attacks your mansion? Don't forget that you can grab the powerups from the rooms, or even leave the mansion if you want to get more gear.

My advice is to stick with the Python, since you can bring down the guys with one shot (especially if you have the fast reload, the Python is the est weapon in the game iMO) and don't worry about the guys stealing your money. When it comes time to cap Sonny, head down to the main lvel and attack him from the side hallay, if he hits you, just run to the basement to get health/armor.

Anyway, my vote for the cheapest boss would be M Bison from SF2... I hate it when bosses laugh at you.

Actually, I liked his design, and his moves are damned cool. He's the Red Arremer of the King of Fighters universe... the love-to-hate bastard.
