This is mostly for the newer stuff. How do you know if it is rare or going to be rare? Is there some web page or some other source that shows production runs?

Also where do you find good info on the game industry? Not just reviews and previews. For an example there was a thread about the X-Box changing models. Where do you find that info?

Thanks.

Most companies often won't release these details so you'd have to follow your guts.

There always will be a news site that leaks rumor and information. Some may not be true and some may be. For example in the case of XBox, it apparantly all started when people noticed a trend: recently bought XBox won't work with the mod chip. Someone bugs M$ about this and they get the details.

You'd have to be nosing around a lot to find the latest news and rumors.

Finding out what's rare or what's hot... most of that I get right HERE. A title will get pointed out and discussed and that prompts further investigation by several others, with more information, and so on. It rarely involves "inside information", but sometimes that factors in as well.

I sometimes find out about these things simply through my own hunting (for my collection) or research (for our database), like with the Bust-A-Groove PSX games yesterday. I wondered why there were none out on eBay then found a few at outrageously high prices on half.com. I'm still not SURE that it's rare but dammit if every seller isn't expecting good money for it right now.

There ARE dangers in this process. Things need to be carefully researched or they turn into silly legends like Tengen Tetris was.
