Anyone know if Nintendo plans on ever releasing the GC in colors available in JPN here in N.A.? What about the cool clear shells like the Funtastic N64's? Does anyone sell 3rd party replacement GC casings like they do for PSX?

The green color and a red color (similar to the Berry Red game boy colors) are used to identify development gamecubes that are modded to play the hard drives that developers use to test games.

No, there's a mint green(Tales of Phantasia?) version for sale. I don't know about the red.

Fluke: I think he's talking about something like this:
Tales of Symphonia Bundle (http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMediaPage.jsp?media_id=1763493&object_id=481670&channel_id=74&page_title=Tales+of+Symphonia+GCN+Bundle&adString=network%3Dign%26site%3Dcube%26pagetype%3D mediaimgthin&return_url=http%3A%2F%2Fcube.ign.com%2Fobjects%2F4 81%2F481670.html)
I believe its gonna stay in Japan though.

They always do crap like that in Japan. Famicom colors only in Japan, special this only in Japan, blah blah. The only special stuff America ever got was a Pikachu N64 and Game Boy. Can't we get a variation that doesn't have some yellow pansy on it? They could at least have put Mew or something on it if they were going to do that.
I'd personally like to see a GCN and GBA that have the old grey, dark grey, red, and black original NES colors.

Ah, ok. I haven't heard anything about new GC colors, but then I usually find out about stuff like that at the same time as everyone else. FWIW, the green dev. gamecube is more of a deep green, almost an aqua color.

how obtainable is one of these dev. GC's? a guy I know used to work for a company that supposedly made a bunch of games for PS2, Xbox, and GC.......and he said they got turned down on some really big projects and pretty much closed the doors. could be a load of bull but he said i couldn't try out any of the games because i didn't have a dev. GC.....deh, but is it possible to buy one.....somehow?

I could be wrong, but I believe the dev boxes that use the HD cartridge are used in instances where a burned disc could 'disappear' long enough to be copied in circles where development is actually taking place. So unless you work with someone who is actually programming the game, I don't know that you'd see one. I'm not sure what Journalists receive, perhaps Zach can give us an answer on that end.

i just think it would be fun to have one......for no real reason, and i wouldn't have much use for it. but maybe i could talk my friend into somehow getting some of these games that got shotdown by the big 3 LOL ........and i could see what i think of them.....could be fun...
EDIT: i just looked at the link posted by D923.....and, that GC looks really sweet. just different from the norm i suppose, but i like it!
