Not to be morbid, but everyone is obviously going to die some day. What's going to happen to your collection when you start pushing up daisies? Are you going to be buried with/by it? Are you donating it? Passing it on to family or friends?
Also, I've seen/heard/read a lot of guys talking about how their wife/girlfriend/mother doesn't UNDERSTAND why they pay so much, or how they sometimes have to bribe her, or maybe not tell the WHOLE truth about what they paid.. Have any of you ever talked to/considering talking to your significant other about what to do with your collection? Have you thought about instructing them on rarity, so you won't be rolling in your grave if they sell your NWC cart for $5 at a lawn sale? I think Chocobo & Lexicon/ Willie and I are in relationships that are an exception for the most part, where both partners actually are knowledgable on the subject. What are the rest of you going to do? Or do you just figure you'll be dead and it really wouldn't matter?

I want my collection to go on eBay...and then I want my family to have me creamated, and mixed into black plastic carrtridge molds, so that I can finally be in a homebrew :)

Hopefully it's a loooong way away :) *smooch!* Maybe by that time video games will be a really serious collectable and there will be a museum or something.

I imagine that many of us will have no friends and family when we die because we are anti social and mean (just kidding bwa ha ha!!)

So what do we do then? I propose a videogame museum, thatway us misers can donate to it on conditions that they are never sold.

Joe, Dp should start a Videogame museum! Heh heh. At least it would be a place to store your stuff (Crap, I'm personally damn near outta room)!

Well, There's my 2 cents. Keep the change.
Ahem.

I've actually got a verbal understanding with two friends of mine and my wife. One of them gets everything "up to and including NES", the other one gets "everything after NES". They're fairly equally balanced and these two individuals would each benefit from a collection that they not only understand the value of but personally collect for as well.

If anything, in some of our cases, it would pay for the funeral :P

So, you've instructed someone to auction off your belongings upon your demise?

I've thought and talked to my girlfriend about this. We don't have any children yet, but would like to. If my kids are intrested in games as I am, then they will be the ones to get the goods. If we can't have kids, or they aren't intrested, Chrissi has a copy of DP to use as a base for how much she could get for my stuff, but I think she would probably give a lot of it to her Nephew, who LOVES games. That would be fine with me as long as he didn't just cash in on them. I don't collect to make anything, I collect because I love this stuff.

Quite honestly, I don't really care...I'll be dead anyway. They'll all go to my wife I guess, and she can do with them as she wishes.

I'm not sure I have so much stuff I do not think my family would know what to do with it all. My mom knows the value and would get a friend of mine to put it on ebay and then give the money to a few family members.

They will all go to my children. My son is only 3 but he is already a video game nut. I plan on raising all my kids to appreciate Video games. I'm already building a team of collectors in my family!!! I hope to add my Son who is due in November soon!!! :D

Between the games and the records, my friends have been fighting for years over who gets what, and probably planning my demise as well.

Personally, I don't care what happens. If I'm dead, it isn't going to mean a damn thing to me if it all goes out with the trash or gets auctioned off. However, I would hope that my friends who actually have an interest in the stuff would just take it. Or not. Whatever.

I plan on having my stuff given away to other collectors or people who will enjoy it. I don't think I want it all sold off because it isn't about the money for me, it is about the love of games. I want my games and systems to go to somebody who will cherish them and take care of them the way I have. But if I am dead, they probably will all be sold off!!!

Personally I kinda think I will have sold it all off by the time I am dead anyways. If I have a kid then she/he will get it of course...
