I logged in my email at work to discover that my contact in Japan is working on a deal up to a maximum of $500 on one of these machines (last machine I said "I'll be willing to go to $200, so this was unexpected). Now that I'm home I'm able to look at the picture he provided and discover why such a high price might be paid. Here's a picture of the thing:
http://home.comcast.net/~edoscuro/asharpmystery.jpg
Apparently everything in this picture is coming.
I see two towers, and on the right side I see FM on the boxes...would there be a FM Towns computer coming in the auction? I'm fairly sure the bigger mass (two connected towers) is the x68K, and the strange skinnier one is a FM Towns Marty. Rather odd looking, but I've only seen a picture of the later model with a vertical CD-ROM door in the middle of the case (which looks cool, by the way).
I also see Arkanoid (top of PC) and various Konami x68K games (near bottom of pile on the left, colorful ones might be Twinbee or Parodius type games?)
On the left pile, again, look at the black box with the red along the top. Notice that the title has four symbols and the top one looks like a person (Dai, great or big). That could (maybe, a long shot though) be Daimakaimura, which I know Dire 51 would like to see. But then I don't know what the one on top of that might be (first thought: Neo Geo port, second thought is that it's a Capcom game and the low pic quality messed up the logo down below). I also see a Capcom game up above.
Second-to left pile includes Chelnov and some other games I haven't heard of. Bottom title looks vaguely like "SARAMANDER" in English letters, but it can't be since it's too short.
Anybody able to give me some extra opinions on this?

I have no idea on what any of it is. But that is one hell of a setup. Hopefully full of all kinds of good stuff.

Yes.
Odd...looking at the skinny tower I swear that's the Sharp logo near the bottom, in silver as it should be. WTF? I have no idea what Sharp system that would be, or what...

If Castlevania Chronicles wasn't released on the PSX, I'd really like to own one of these. 8-)

Hehe...that's why I'm getting it. I've got two complete copies of that game, but no system. Yet.
It would be funny if one of the games being sent with the system was a copy of Akumajo Dracula x68000. As sturdy as those game boxes are, I could maybe start building some furniture XD

One swell looking joystick there, too.

I think I've seen one before, and I'm pretty sure it's for the FM Towns computers. Not quite certain, though.
Would be my first joystick of that type (unless you count old-school Neo Geo AES controllers).

You can PM me the auction link and I can tell you the details if you want (I won't outbid you, as I've got no interest in 68k stuff).
Not sure if that's an FM-Towns or not (I think they're bigger actually) but who knows.
From the picture, what I can see is (game-wise):
Left Stack:
Image Fight
Strider Hiryu
World Stadium
Taisenryaku (I think)
Quous (?)
A-Jax
Twinbee (probably)
Parodius
Cotton
the other stuff is too hard to read. ;(

WOW :eek 2:
I would love to have that system. I have never played or seen one in person, but I have always wanted to. They are insanely rare in the US. You will be psyched when you finally get it home and up and running.
Have fun!

FM Towns systems were manufactured by Fujiitsu and not by Sharp (at least all the ones I have seen).
Also, if they aren't the standard car/console type, they are about the size of a regular PC tower, which are much bigger than the one in question.

No idea yet. Very likely over $50 even shipped by boat.
IRT "FM Towns Marty was made by Fujitsu and not Sharp"
I know, thanks anyways. If you look at the picture again you see that the boxes on the right hand side seem to have a "FM" on them; since I've never seen a picture of a FM Towns game box spine I thought that might be one. Add on to that the fact that I didn't know Sharp made add-on boxes like the one sitting between the actual PC and the monitor in the photo, and you understand why I was hoping this could be an auction for two systems, not one. After I saw a better picture, and noticed the silvery Sharp logo on the expansion box, I realized that this was all Sharp stuff.

Don't want to be an ass but this will definately cost you about $120 to ship. It must weigh approx 30 kg if not more.
But who cares, a real collector doesn't. I also have a couple of X68000 games but no system. I would love to play Castelvania and my Star Wars game.
Good luck!

No, that's not being unhelpful at all...hehe. I've still got to tie down the loose ends here, that's for sure.
