I did a quick ebay search for "new 20 bill"
and about 50 came up, most having bids of over 20 bucks.
Why?

Its the new colored $20.00, and I guess people really want to be the first to get a hold of one, or they don't have a clue that its out for everyone already.

I know that in the coin collecting community people will pay more than face value for guaranteed straight from the mint coin sets. (Annuals, 2002, 2003, etc.)

Of course this is just retarded, you can go to your bank right now and request a swap. It will be as mint as this guy has, guaranteed.

When those Sacagawea dollars came out the local coin shop(comic shop) were selling them left and right for 3.50 and he sold out his rolls and made $500 in a 3 week period. Some people.

I know of an avid coin/bill collector, and you have to understand things from their point of view..

#1 - are the bidders american?? I'm in Canada, and this bill won't get here for a few years! Now imagine bill collectors overseas!

#2 - Getting a bill from the bank is NOT mint/uncercilated. The moment it was touched by anyone outside of you, it's considered "circulated"...

The only way to get uncirculated bills is through mail order from the mint, or purchase as special places like the post office with a certificate of authentication. If you take a 20$ bill from the bank, it's worth 20$. If you have your hands on an uncirculated 20$, it's worth more than 20$..

crazy, eh? Then again so is paying 2000$ for an NWC cart.. :)

Notice that nowhere in the auction does he make mention of it being straight from the mint. There's no certificate of authenticity, that's my point. You'd be better off just going to the bank.

As the saying goes, "There's one born every minute."

I collect some bills and coins, and what has been said is correct. The bill needs to come TRULY mint and uncirculated to be worth anything.

You never know, some people may never come out of their house, let alone go to the bank due to illnesses... Reminds me of my old neighbours.
